Marc Alan Lee: 2 year anniversary of this soldiers death
To all families of the fallen, for Memorial Day; but in particular, a tribute to Marc Alan Lee - for Debbie Lee and her family, may God bless them all, and hold them in the palm of his hand. Music "If You're Reading This" by Tim McGraw, presented to the Gold Star Families with Debbie Lee on stage, used here with permission.
An Email from Debbie Lee:
Aug 2, 2006 is a day that changed my life forever. Many of you have those days that you remember that were life changing. For most of us we remember our graduations, the day we married the love of our life, and the birth of our children. These events will always bring a smile to our face and joy to our hearts. Our lives were greatly impacted and the overall impact has been a blessing. Not that our jobs don't bring frustrations and headaches at times, our spouses at times cause us to question our sanity, and our teenage children sometimes cause us to yearn for the empty nest, but overall we reflect and remember the good times especially on the birthdays or anniversaries.
The anniversary that I remember today isn't one that your first response is that of blessings and laughter, trust me I've already shed many tears today. Today I remember 2 years ago when I recieved a visit from a Navy Chaplain bringing me the most dreadful news I have ever recieved. When you have children serving in the military you know that a visit from a Chaplain only means one thing, death. The loss of child's life according to the experts is the hardest death to deal with. I have lost a Father, a husband, and a son and I will agree dealing with the death of my son has been the hardest by far.

I have spent the morning looking back at pictures from Marc's arrival home in his flag draped coffin, his funeral at Fort Rose Crans, his memorial service in Hood River, his pictures in Iraq, and his pictures growing up. While I mourn those two years without his smiling face, his bear hugs, his contagious life and playful antics, I am thankful and remember the 28 years that his life engraved on my heart and left his mark. How many of us can say we left our mark on this world? My Marc left his mark on every life that he met. :O)
As I looked through the pictures this morning I was reminded of all of the people who have touched my life during the past 2 years since Marc's death. God has been soooooooooooooo faithful to me and used so many of you to touch my life in such a special way. I am so grateful for everyone of you whether your impact has been great or small. Whether you are the President, a General or a new born child. I'm not even going to try to list all of you or how you have impacted my life as this letter would go on forever. Some of you have been their daily and others may have been a one time encounter. Many of you have prayed faithfully! I know that the way you have touched my life has helped me get through another day, week, month or year. I am so very thankful!
As we reflect on Marc today lets remember what he gave. Marc gave his laughter, his love, his smile, his faith, his determination, his love for this country, his humor, his love of life, his support, and Marc gave his life.
I know most of you have probably read Marc's last letter home, but I feel it is fitting to include it again today as we reflect on the two year anniversary of his death. There are also several memorial videos on you tube just type in Marc Alan Lee. If any of you have special memories of Marc I would love it if you would email those to me so that I can remember them forever.
We are a blessed nation to have men and women just like Marc who are willing to give it all for you, for me, for this nation. Those are the heroes of our nation that need to be honored. As I remember Marc today I also remember all of those who have served in our military, and those who gave it all. God Bless those mighty warriors, my heroes!
Counting my blessings,
Debbie Lee
PS:Thank you Marc for giving it all! Your are home son, and I will see you when I get there!
Marc's last letter home
Glory is something that some men chase and others find themselves stumbling upon, not expecting it to find them. Either way it is a noble gesture that one finds bestowed upon them.
My question is, when does glory fade away and become a wrongful crusade, or an unjustified means which consumes one completely?
I have seen war.
I have seen death, the sorrow that encompasses your entire being as a man breathes his last. I can only pray and hope that none of you will ever have to experience some of these things I have seen and felt here.
I have felt fear and have felt adrenaline pump through my veins making me seem invincible. I will be honest and say that some of the things I have seen here are unjustified and uncalled for. However for the most part we are helping this country. It will take more years than most expect, but we will get Iraq to stand on its own feet.
Most of what I have seen here I will never really mention or speak of, only due to the nature of those involved. I have seen a man give his food to a hungry child and family. Today I saw a hospital that most of us would refuse to receive treatment from. The filth and smell would allow most of us to not be able to stand to enter, let alone get medicine from.
However, you will be relieved to know that coalition forces have started to provide security for and supply medicine and equipment to help aid in the cause. I have seen amazing things happen here; however I have seen the sad part of war, too. I have seen the morals of a man who cares nothing of human life. . . .
I have seen hate towards a nation's people who has never committed a wrong, except being born of a third world, ill-educated and ignorant to western civilization. It is not everybody who feels this way, only a select few, but it brings questions to mind.
Is it ok for one to consider themselves superior to another race?
Surprisingly, we are not a stranger to this sort of attitude. Meaning that in our own country, we discriminate against someone for what nationality they are, their education level, their social status. We distinguish our role models as multi-million-dollar sports heroes or talented actors and actresses who complain about not getting millions of dollars more then they are currently getting paid.
Our country is a great country, don't get me wrong on this, otherwise none of us would be living there. My point of this is how can we come over here and help a less than fortunate country without holding contempt or hate towards them, if we can't do it in our country. I try to do my part over here, but the truth is over there, in the United States, I do nothing but take.
Ask yourself, when was the last time you donated clothes that you hadn't worn out. When was the last time you paid for a random stranger's cup of coffee, meal or maybe even a tank of gas?
When was the last time you helped a person with the groceries into or out of their car?
Think to yourself and wonder what it would feel like if when the bill for the meal came and you were told it was already paid for. More random acts of kindness like this would change our country and our reputation as a country. It is not unknown to most of us that the rest of the world looks at us with doubt towards our humanity and morals.
I am not here to preach or to say 'look at me,' because I am just as at fault as the next person.
I find that being here makes me realize the great country we have and the obligation we have to keep it that way.
The 4th has just come and gone and I received many e-mails thanking me for helping keep America great and free. I take no credit for the career path I have chosen; I can only give it to those of you who are reading this, because each one of you has contributed to me and who I am.
However, what I do over here is only a small percent of what keeps our country great. I think the truth to our greatness is each other. Purity, morals and kindness, passed down to each generation through example.
So to all my family and friends, do me a favor and pass on the kindness, the love, the precious gift of human life to each other so that when your children come into contact with a great conflict like that we are now faced with here in Iraq, that they are people of humanity, of pure motives, of compassion.
This is our real part to keep America free!
HAPPY 4th! Love Ya,
Marc Lee
P.S. Half-way through the deployment -- can't wait to see all of your faces.

Boulder High School Pledge of Allegiance Rally After Action Report
On thursday morning a group of seven Patriots gathered in front of the Boulder High School to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. (Dale Lanham of Colorado Gathering of Eagles took this picture)

A few days before, a small group of students had stormed out of class to recite an alternative Pledge that had Marxist overtones.
This thread at Free Republic contains all of the links that I could find on the web describing the controversy, and stories were published all over the media about the students new pledge.

This video covers the whole rally. I took video of our group saying the Pledge and then interviewed everyone who attended to learn why they carved out a few minutes from their day to attend the rally. At the end of the video is a clip from the Denver Fox Television stations interview of Gerald Mangus who organized the rally.
Finally a nice testimony about the Pledge of Allegiance from

Gathering of Eagles III: Embed Codes for Videos
When C-Span taped the Gathering of Eagles III Pro Troop Rally they left out Melanie Morgans Speech: Here is a portion of it:
To grab the embed code for this movie to post on your own blog go here.
Chris Hill was one of the first speakers at GOE III But his speech was not a part of my DVR recording of the rally because C-span announced that it would run at 10:30AM on sunday September 16th, 2007 and they actually started it a few minutes before by tacking some of our speakers on to the end of the Anti War Rally.
Here is Chris's amazing and powerful speech. I felt goosebumps down my back when I listened to him.
To get the embed for this movie, go here to You Tube to grab the link.
The rest of the Rally is found in these next two videos. I had to chop it in two because One True Media only allows for sixty minute vids.

This Blogger went to the Anti War side of the protest and has issues with being called a "smelly Hippie". What she failed to see is that those of us calling her side the "Anti War Stinkys" believe that ANYONE who gives aid and comfort to the enemy during a time of war is the smelliest, stinkyest, biggest loser in our society: And that would include politicians delusional about what is at stake, the MSM, Anti War activists like herself who are comfortable playing the role of "useful idiot" to the communist puppet master pulling her strings, and especially the Anti War groups themselves.
I only have one question...."Where was Jane Fonda???" I thought she said in March that "Silence was no longer an option". As the most useful idiot of them all, it was strange to see a major rally without her blathering on about American Imperialism.
NYTimes: Anti War Protest ends with Dozens of Arrests
WAPO Video: War of Words This video will prob only be up for a month.
The Hill: About 200 arrested during Anti War Protest
Karissa Marcum, writer of this piece quoted ANSWER as saying that five million anti war activists showed up on the streets of Washington DC on saturday.....Oh, wait, I got that number wrong...She said quote:
"Protesters marched from the White House to the Capitol in an effort coordinated by the ANSWER coalition, which estimated the crowd to be 100,000 strong."
WOW, 100,000 people. Well, just who were these tens of thousands??? Patriots have said there were no more than 5,000 anti war moonbats at the rally....but again, who are they?
Free Republic: Anti War Protestors use bribes to inflate numbers
I said this last march when we were getting ready for Gathering of Eagles I.
"Anyway, I don't know how much rent a mob stuff will be a part of the March 17th anti war activity, but to just dismiss it as impossible is naive at best and dangerously manipulative at worst as the media seeks to inflate numbers and paint the movement as so'me grass roots spontaneous snowballing of how Americans really think. "
The Media has consistently been reporting that GOE Rally Supporters numbered about a thousand. I think we can safely say that seven to ten thousand pro troop people showed op on saturday based on what the MSM have all agreed was the lowest possible number. Move America Forward claimed 7,000 patriots.
But whatever the numbers actually were is neither here nor there. The fact is that Patriots are organizing, and no Anti American Moonbat will be able to organize and stomp around the streets without being challenged by someone, somewhere. And that is a beautiful thing.
Mel was kind enough to write this on her blog: Hey everybody, I'm home!

Michelle Malkin: Answering Answer GOE III
Michelle Malkin has a great piece on the upcoming Gathering of Eagles counter demonstration on September 15th.
NYPost Version: Answering Answer
And one of the best comments from Michelles Blog:
"On August 29th, 2007 at 11:14 am, Tantor said:
The protest scene in Washington, DC, and perhaps most of the nation, is undergoing a remarkable shift where the anti-war protests are waning while the counter-protests are waxing full. The past giant anti-war marches of some 50,000 lefty loons have shrunk partly due to the inevitable bickering of the Marxist control freak factions which organize them but also due to a general distaste for the creeps who march in them. Some of the naive liberal dupes who march in these are catching on that the ANSWER Stalinists who organize them are merely using them to man a protest battering ram against America.
There were only a couple dozen Freeper counter-protestors versus the hordes of protestors at every giant Washington protest until the March on the Pentagon this year, when the Gathering of Eagles matched their numbers, about ten thousand versus ten thousand. Let me tell you, the one thing protestors hate is protestors counter-protesting them. They’re against it. The lefties want a monopoly on protesting, on free speech.
The GOE scared away some of ANSWER’s celebrity speakers, who wouldn’t set foot outside of their limos if their anti-American opinions were challenged. The GOE had enough numbers to form a gauntlet at the Lincoln Memorial through which the protestors had to pass, a sobering reminder to them that their anti-American sentiments were challenged by the majority of Americans.
One good ole boy small town cop/military veteran from down South told me he watched three young kids walk up to the protest. When they saw all the vets gathered there to counter-protest, they dropped their protest signs on the ground and left, saying, “This isn’t fun.” While the ANSWER wolves who run these protests are deeply committed to their cause, most of the sheep who follow them are not. They come to protests to party. It’s like Mardi Gras for them. When vets show up en masse to challenge them, the dopey sophomore party-protestors shrink in the face of it and flee. Go to their protest and puncture their fun.
The canary in the coal mine of Washington protests is the despicable Code Pink protest at Walter Reed Army Medical Center every Friday night from 7 PM to 9 PM. The Freepers have been counter-protesting them in a war of attrition for over two years now, whittling down the numbers of the protestors from fifty regulars to the last dirty half dozen. A couple months ago, one of the Code Pink leaders came out to the protest and called the troops the true terrorists in Iraq. That’s how Code Pink supports the troops it purports to “love.”
In the past before a big Saturday protest, some of the moonbats would show up the night before at Walter Reed. They don’t do that anymore because the attention span of a moonbat is very short. However, if you are going to the GOE counter-protest of this coming ANSWER commie protest, you might think about getting in early and heading up Georgia Avenue Friday night to the front gate of Walter Reed to join the pro-troops Freeper counter-protest. They’ll be the ones waving The Flag. Maybe you might even stop at Walmart and pick up some boxes of snacks for the wounded troops inside. But most of all, turn out in big numbers to put a stake through the heart of this slanderous protest of our wounded warriors recovering from grievous wounds in Walter Reed.
See you there."
Reminder that we are having a Pro War/Troop Rally in Boulder Colorado on Sunday September 9th, at 7AM. See YOU there!

Human Events: Where will the Patriots be on September 15th?
Where will the Patriots be on September 15th?
"Timed to upstage the crucial September testimony about Iraq of Gen. David Petraeus and Amb. Ryan Crocker, the ANSWER organization (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) will hold a rally/protest in Washington, DC. But they will not be the only voice: on the other side of the issue, ANSWER will be challenged by Eagles, a gathering of all sorts of Americans who don’t want to lose this war.
There are many diversions available to most Americans on a Saturday in September -- lawn mowing, children’s sporting events, and of course, the college football season.
But every so often in history, a need arises that puts all else in perspective, and most diversions are relegated to a place far down the list of priorities. This is one of those times.
Anti-American, anti-democratic forces have designated September 15 as the day they will assemble in Washington, and attempt by subterfuge, diversion, misinformation and misrepresentation to again sway the political will of the US Congress, and ultimately force the Bush Administration to accept a premature withdrawal from Iraq.
The ANSWER-types will be working from a template used by John Kerry, Jane Fonda and their ilk in the 60s and 70s that proved successful in convincing Congress that the Vietnam War could not be won, even as US and South Vietnamese forces and our allies won victory upon victory.
This time the lose-the-war demonstrators will attempt to convince Congress to abandon Iraq and set the stage for surrender in the War on Terror, even as Gen. David Petraeus is reporting that our military efforts in Iraq are succeeding."

Gathering of Eagles is moving Up up Up!!!
About GOE:
Gathering of Eagles seeks to support military personnel, veterans, and their families; inform Americans of threats to our way of life; and work for a strong national defense.
1. Gathering of Eagles is non-partisan. While each member has his or her own political beliefs, our common love and respect for America and her heroes is what brings us together.
2. We are a non-violent, non-confrontational group. We look to defend, not attack. Our focus is guarding our memorials and their grounds.
3. We believe that the war memorials are sacred ground; as such, we will not allow them to be desecrated, used as props for political statements, or treated with anything less than the solemn and heartfelt respect they–and the heroes they honor–deserve.
4. We are wholly and forever committed to our brothers and sisters in uniform. As veterans, we understand their incredible and noble sacrifices, made of their own accord for a nation they love more than life itself. As family members, we stand by them, and as Americans, we thank God for them.
5. We believe in and would give our lives for the precious freedoms found in our Constitution. We believe that our freedom of speech is one of the greatest things our country espouses, and we absolutely hold that any American citizen has the right to express his or her approval or disapproval with any policy, law, or action of our nation and her government in a peaceful manner as afforded by the laws of our land.
6. However, we are adamantly opposed to the use of violence, vandalism, physical or verbal assaults on our veterans, and the destruction or desecration of our memorials. By defending and honoring these sacred places, we defend and honor those whose blood gave all of us the right to speak as freely as our minds think.
7. We vehemently oppose the notion that it is possible to “support the troops but not the war.” We are opposed to those groups who would claim support for the troops yet engage in behavior that is demeaning and abusive to the men and women who wear our nation’s uniform.
8. We believe in freedom at all costs, including our own lives. We served to protect the freedoms Americans enjoy, and we agree with Thomas Jefferson’s assertion that “From time to time, the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”
9. We will accept nothing less than total, unqualified victory in the current conflict. Surrender is not an option, nor is defeat.
10. We stand to challenge any group that seeks the destruction of our nation, its founding precepts of liberty and freedom, or those who have given of themselves to secure those things for another generation. We will be silent no more.

A Prophet Seer and Revelator Speaks on Politics
During the fifty five years that have passed since this talk was given, the level of propaganda and lies told about America has exponentially grown to the point where our citizens, if they are not rabid anti-americans, they are definitely on the fence about whether or not to feel good about our nation and our Godly heritage.
I know for me, the final bit of ambivalence I had about our history, especially our history around the Viet Nam war, was completely wiped away when I read this interview found at Front Page Magazine. I remember that as I read it for the first time a couple years ago, I was hitting the monitor of my computer, and when I finished it, I rammed my hand down on the computer desk, because I was so floored by what Mr. Pacepa had said.
Here is the interview, followed by Ezra Taft Bensons talk given at General Conference 55 years ago.
Member Of the Council of the Twelve Apostles (Please note, this talk was given in April of 1952 at General Conference)
"Beloved brethren and sisters, in humility I invoke the inspiration of the Lord and seek an interest in your faith and prayers as I stand for a few moments in this pulpit. I should like, if the Lord will bless me, to give vent to some thoughts that have been deeply impressed upon my mind for several weeks now. I hope I shall not be misunderstood. It seems to me that the day in which we live demands a frank and forthright consideration of some of the problems which face us not only as a Church but also as a great Christian nation.
With you I thrilled at the opening address of our great leader, President McKay. As I have thought of his remarks regarding this land of America, its achievements, and its needs, I have felt that I could characterize best what he said in two words: Spiritual Statesmanship. With you I love this land in which we live. I am proud of our heritage; I am grateful for the American tradition; I am thankful that the Lord has given through his prophets information regarding this great nation.
However, it seems to me that there are certain tendencies, trends, and practices which endanger very greatly our way of life and strike at the very foundation of much that we hold dear as a great Christian nation. Of course, the conditions of the world generally give us cause for concern. We seem to live in a world of conflict, insecurity, uncertainty, and almost bewilderment. We appear to be groping blindly, aimlessly, unable to find the way. Were it not for our faith in the prophecies of God I fear sometimes we would almost be tempted to give up.
We are in the midst of continuing international crises. The outlook for world peace and security is dark indeed. The gravity of the world situation, it appears, is increasing almost daily. The United Nations seems unable to settle the troubles of the world. In truth we are faced with the hard fact that the United Nations, it seems, has largely failed in its purpose. Yes, the days ahead are sobering and challenging ones. We might well ask,
America-what of the future?
I never travel across this great land and note its broad, fruitful farms, its humming factories and gleaming cities but what I am impressed with the marvels of this great nation. Yes, we have made unequaled material progress. We have become the greatest and the richest nation in all the world.
This has been done on about 6% of the land area of the world by a relatively small group of people, only 7% of the world's population. Yet it is reported that this small group of people produce today approximately half of the world's total wealth in usable form to satisfy human needs.
It is reported that in the year 1950 almost half of the food and fiber of the world was produced here in the United States. Our productivity has increased one-fifth every ten years since 1850. Through the use of machines much of the drudgery and toil so common in many other nations has disappeared.
Our engineers have estimated that the average worker today has the equivalent of 99 mechanical slaves working for him. The Twentieth Century Fud recently predicted that by 1960, 96% of all the energy going into physical work in America would be performed by machines, 1% by horses, and 3% by men. The average American worker has an output per hour six times his output in 1850. Yes, we have made unprecedented achievements in material things.
The prophets of God foreshadowed these achievements when they predicted that this would be a land choice above all other lands and that it would be preserved for a righteous people. Those who were to dwell here, if they served the God of the land, should be free from bondage and captivity.
Lehi, who led the second colony which came to this great land, was told that he was leading that colony to a land of promise and that none should come here save those who would come here under the influence of heaven.
This land would be consecrated unto those whom the Lord would guide here. It would be a land of liberty. Lehi's son, Jacob, said there should be no kings upon this land, that the God of heaven would be their king that this land would be fortified against all other nations, and that he who would fight against Zion should perish.
Reference has been made by President Young to the coming of Columbus. The scriptures tell us that the Spirit wrought upon Columbus, and upon those who followed him, and that they came here under the inspiration of heaven. Nephi predicted that when they arrived, they would humble themselves before God, that the power of the Lord would be with them, and that they would prosper.
Our history clearly records that the early peoples who did come were humble, God- fearing men and women. Bradford records that their first act upon arriving here upon American soil was to go upon their knees in humble prayer and bless the God of heaven.
The impelling force in their hearts it seems to me, was a love for basic ideals and principles, which were dearer to them than life itself. Among these were their love of God, faith in his divine purposes, their love of freedom industry, thrift, decency, and honor. Yes, this nation had its beginning in a high-minded manner.
The rules of conduct established by the early colonists and our founding fathers were taken from the scriptures. They were embodied in the Decalogue and in the gospel. The Sabbath was set aside as a sacred day. Profanity and other vices were condemned, and gambling was forbidden. People were encouraged to keep good company and to repeat no grievances. They emphasized the spiritual virtues.
Washington but echoed the general feeling of the early colonists when he acknowledged God's direction and emphasized the importance of spirituality honor, and moral courage. He said:
No people can be found to acknowledge and adore the Invisible Hand which conducts the affairs of men more than the people of the United States. Every step by which they have advanced to the character of an independent nation seems to have been distinguished by some token of providential agency.
Then as to the place of religion and morality, the Father of our country stated:
Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports . . . Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.
His successors spoke in similar vein. Lincoln emphasized the same thought when he acknowledged that "God rules this world," and that "It is the duty of nations as well as men to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow...., " and then quoting from the scriptures, "and to recognize the sublime truth that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord." Yes, my brethren and sisters, they spoke of self-evident truths-inalienable rights.
When the Prophet Joseph came upon the scene to open a new gospel dispensation, he shed even further light upon the establishment of this great nation and the coming forth of the Constitution, which he stated was a glorious standard, founded in the wisdom of God.
Through revelation the Lord said to him, as was quoted by Brother Moyle yesterday,
Therefore, it is not right that any man should be in bondage one to another.
And for this purpose have I established the Constitution of this land, by the hands of wise men whom I raised up unto this very purpose, and redeemed the land by the shedding of blood. (D. & C. 101:79-80.)
We have enjoyed divine favor through much of our history, but what of the future? It seems to me, my brethren and sisters, that the lessons of history, many of them very sobering, ought to be turned to during this hour of our great achievement because I feel in my own heart that during the hour of our success is our greatest danger.
I feel firmly that even during the hour of great prosperity, a nation may sow the seeds of its own destruction. This may happen even during a period of great income, relatively full employment, and high business activity. History reveals that rarely is a great civilization conquered from without until it has weakened or destroyed itself within.
I read recently volume three of that monumental work by Will Durant, The Story of Civilization. This volume entitled Caesar and Christ, covers the rise and fall of the Roman Empire and the coming forth of Christianity. It covers a period of 1125 years, from 800 B.C. to 325 A.D. At the end of this six-hundred-page volume, the author writes an epilogue under the caption "Why Rome Fell."
It is generally agreed that not infrequently history repeats itself. The author lists the major causes why this great civilization fell apart. I wonder if there is anything in what he says for us to take note of today. As a read this volume I was caused to reflect on the similarity of conditions and practices then and now. May I give you briefly his summary:
The first group of causes he termed biological, and no doubt most fundamental. They had to do with the limitation of families, the deferment and avoidance of marriage, the refusal of men and women to shoulder the great responsibilities, God-ordained, of honorable parenthood.
He mentioned that sexual excesses were indulged in commonly, both in and outside the marriage covenant.
The operation of contraception and abortion was common. This, together with other things, resulted in reduced fertility. Sex ran riot, and moral decay resulted.
He mentioned as another cause of Rome's decay, the waste of natural resources in mining, deforestation, erosion, the neglect of irrigation canals but most important of all, the negligence of harassed and discouraged men the failure to teach high moral principles so necessary for the building of real character.
Then he lists with great emphasis the rising costs of government because of armies, doles, public works, expanding bureaucracy, a parasitic court, depreciation of currency, absorption of investment capital by confiscatory taxation.
Is there anything suggestive in this summary?
May I give you the following figures on this last grouping particularly, taken from what seem to be reliable sources? According to projected estimates, our federal government will spend during the coming fiscal years, 1952-53, more than the total income of all the people west of the Mississippi River-22 states. The federal payroll in 1952 will top 22 billion-4 billion above last year and 16 times the 1929 total.
Nearly one out of every four adult Americans is receiving regularly federal checks. At the present rate, by 1953 the government will be spending approximately 38% of the national income. During only three of the last twenty years has our federal budget been balanced. It requires today approximately 2 1/2 million civilians to staff the federal bureaucracy.
In the matter of the depreciation of the currency, it is reported that the present dollar is worth only 38 cents compared to the 1913 dollar, and that the dollar today will purchase only about half as much as it did in 1935-39.
As to taxation, the federal government took in taxes during all past administrations up to six years ago-156 years-248 billion dollars.
In the last six years we have taken in taxes 260 billion, and still we seem not to have enough to pay our current bills. With a debt of over one- quarter of a trillion dollars the annual interest payment is 6 billion dollars plus, more than all government expenditures in 1933.
Now, my brethren and sisters this author lists other causes. Political causes, he says, were rooted in one fact that through centralized control and the increasing despotism of the state, the citizens' civic sense was destroyed and dried up, thus destroying statesmanship at its source.
Men felt powerless to express themselves and lost interest in government. Yet, I presume, Rome has had no equal in the art of government. She achieved a democracy of free men and then destroyed it with corruption and violence.
With you, I love this great land in which we live.
I pray for the chief executive and his cabinet and the legislative and judicial branches, the officials of our states and our cities. But I wonder sometimes, my brethren and sisters, what our founding fathers, our pioneer fathers, would do and say if they were here today.
I'm sure they would give serious reflection to present conditions. I wonder if they would not recognize that our liberties have already been abridged, that there has been too much of a tendency for us to call upon our federal government every time we felt the need for the accomplishment of any particular objective.
I wonder if we haven't had a tendency to call for help for those things which our forefathers would have done willingly for themselves.
Yes, I presume as a people we are to blame, but I feel that if they were here today, they would apply some very definite tests before any new service or new program were approved. May I just mention three:
First, I think they would ask the question: Can this service, assuming it is needed, be done more efficiently, more effectively by our federal government or should we do it ourselves on the local level? They believed that government is best which governs least.
Government seems to be inherently wasteful and inefficient. Possibly it is because the profit motive and competition-the very life of private enterprise-are largely absent.
Second, How will it affect the morale and the character of the people? This seems to me to be of great importance. They were interested in the building of character. They recognized that character, not wealth or power or position, is of prime consideration.
Third, they would possibly ask: How will it affect our free institutions-the church, the school, the home, and our local form of government?
I believe if they were here, they would look for the answers to the decline of public morals.
As they looked searchingly for the answers, they would probably observe evidence of weak and vacillating leadership in many places, not confined to one group or one party.
They would find a tendency for men in high places to place political expediency ahead of principle. They would be concerned with the alarming growth of a something-for-nothing philosophy, a failure of people to stand on their own feet.
They would probably find bad examples by unscrupulous politicians and by delinquent parents, and possibly a weakening of religious training, and the substitution therefore of a faith-destroying materialism.
I think, my brethren and sisters, as Latter-day Saints, and as American citizens, we need to rouse ourselves to the problems that confront us as a great Christian nation. We need to recognize that these fundamental, basic principles, moral and spiritual, lay at the very foundation of our achievements in the past.
If we are to continue to enjoy our present blessings, we must have a return to these basic and fundamental principles.
Economics and morals are both parts of one inseparable body of truth, and they must be in harmony.
We need to square our actions and our policies with these eternal principles.
I wonder if we have forgotten the counsel of the prophets, the founding fathers, and our great statesmen. Surely we need a nationwide return to these fundamentals. We need a nationwide repentance to rid this land of corruption. We must return to the fundamental virtues that have made this nation great.
There is a force in the universe which no mortal can alter. This nation does have a spiritual foundation. It has been established in keeping with great spiritual and moral principles, but there seems to be a tendency for us to lose our sense of uprightness and to do wilfully those things which we must know to be wrong. This cannot be done with impunity.
God help us to raise our sights beyond the dollar sign, beyond material things. May we have the courage to stand up and be counted, to stand for principle, for those principles and ideals which guided the founding fathers in the establishment of this great land. Thank God for the promises that have been made regarding the future of America.
I hope and pray we shall realize the fulfillment of these promises because we merit their fulfillment.
I am grateful that the Lord has said through his prophets that this nation unto the righteous shall be blessed forever, and that he will be a light unto them forever that hear his words."

Anti War Mania and an insiders view on the DC Rally
From the Pentagon to California,
Antiwar protests sweep across the country
From the Commies at ANSWER in my email box today:
*Please forward widely to your email lists, friends and family*
The March starts across the bridge to the Pentagon
To see the report from Saturday's demo, click this link.
Thirty-seven years ago when anti-war protests began to engulf the United States, the Nixon administration adopted a public posture of utter indifference. Nixon went out of his way to claim that he didn't notice massive anti-war demonstrations in Washington because he was watching a football game on TV. We learned later from the memoirs of high government officials that the rising tide of anti-war protests between 1968 and 1970 constituted one of the greatest fears for the war makers. The movement spread deep into the rank-and-file of the U.S. military as well, as soldiers, marines and sailors carried out their own protests and acts of resistance. Sometimes the people underestimate their own power, but the ruling establishment knows all too well the consequences of a politicized and mobilized people.
Bush pleads for "patience"

It is the protests sweeping throughout the United States during the past four days and the prospect of other demonstrations to come that forced Bush to go on the airwaves Monday to "plead for patience." The Bush administration and the Pentagon high command fear that the protest movement could become a contagion. Politics is dynamic and political apathy, lethargy and inaction can turn into their opposites. The protests of the last days anchored by the march of tens of thousands at the Pentagon raises this specter for the White House and the Pentagon.
This is still an unfulfilled potential, but it can happen.
It will only be the actions of all anti-war organizations and the people that can significantly change the political climate. Many who came to the March on the Pentagon, and the many thousands who tried but couldn't because of the weather, are making their plans for local demonstrations, protests at local Federal Buildings, city-wide marches and rallies, community protests and vigils, civil disobedience and a range of ongoing actions building anti-war pressure into an irresistible force.
Protest and resistance

The next step for the ANSWER Coalition and many affiliated organizations and individuals is captured in the slogan, "Protest and Resistance," encouraging sustained activity including mass action protests on a local level, continued education and mobilization and acts of collective and individual resistance to the war machine. As happened during Vietnam, active-duty soldiers are beginning to participate in both protest and in acts of resistance. National coalitions play a role, as do local organizations as do all of us as individuals both inside and outside the military.
To tell us about your local antiwar activities, click on this link - we will be posting notices of upcoming actions and sending out nation-wide report backs.
Media coverage on the spreading antiwar protests
For a very good round-up of the actions across the United States marking the beginning of the fifth year of the war in Iraq, listen to the coverage from the March 19 edition of "Democracy Now," hosted by Amy Goodman. (The best way to listen is to right-click, select "Save Target As" and then open the file on your computer). To see the C-SPAN coverage of the March on the Pentagon, go to the C-SPAN homepage, and find "ANSWER Rally Against Iraq War."
The people repudiate pro-war thugs
The forces of ultra-right racism and militarism tried to "Swift Boat" the Washington protest. Wrapping themselves in American flags, groups like Rolling Thunder pretended to "defend" the Vietnam Memorial from threats that they themselves totally fabricated. (Operation Rolling Thunder was the name given to the U.S. Air Force's B-52 carpet-bombing of Vietnam between February 1965 and October 1968, in which thousands of Vietnamese civilians died each month.)
On March 17, these pro-war puppets showed their true colors. They shoved elderly people, screamed at parents whose children had been killed in Iraq, yelled racist comments at Arab and Muslim participants, and spit on and ripped signs out of the hands of high school students.
The government's police stood by and let this happen, despite their oft-repeated claims to be "keeping the peace." A very strong ANSWER security squad blocked these pro-Bush provocateurs from entering the front of the march. Anti-war protestors were disciplined and focused and refused to be provoked into the confrontation the government was hoping for. The enormous power of the people was felt as all those from around the country fighting to stop the war came together, rendering the sideline fascists irrelevant, and marched united on the Pentagon.
And a great insiders view from Human Events on the DC Rally:
Power to the People

I could tell right away this wasn’t going to be your average Washington D.C. anti-war protest.
For months, the anti-war coalition International A.N.S.W.E.R. had been publicizing its plans to hold a major anti-war rally in the nation’s capital on Saturday, March 17. However, reaching the protest staging site next to the Lincoln Memorial at 11:00 -- an hour before the protestors were slated to begin marching to the Pentagon -- I found the field nearly empty. Across the street stood several thousand counter-demonstrators, mostly comprised of Vietnam War veterans associated with various biker clubs. Wearing leather jackets emblazoned with organization names like “Rolling Thunder,” “Legacy Vets,” and “Combat Veterans of America Motorcycle Club,” the vets had turned out to stand guard at the Vietnam Wall and other monuments after some sites were desecrated at an anti-war rally in January. The vets were a grizzled, tough-looking lot, and their presence seemed to surprise the handful of Chinese tourists snapping photos in the area.
Across the street, the war protestors were arriving late with their usual collection of Che Guevara banners, placards decrying American imperialism, and bizarre signs denouncing the 9/11 attacks as a government-orchestrated conspiracy. Some tables were set up offering books and pamphlets advocating socialism while a few enterprising capitalists worked the crowd, briskly selling T-shirts commemorating the march. As they arrived, the protestors were entertained by a DJ who, we were informed over the loudspeakers, was from Puerto Rico – “the first country invaded by the U.S.” He played the Edwin Starr protest classic “War (What is it good for?)” several dozen times, it seemed, then launched into James Brown’s “I’m Black and I’m Proud,” as the mostly white crowd sang along.
Eventually, around 15,000 protestors arrived -- appearing to me about the same number as attended the January anti-war rally..This must have been a severe disappointment to A.N.S.W.E.R., which had drawn upwards of 100,000 people to previous protests. The poor turnout at this year’s rallies can largely be attributed to a schism between A.N.S.W.E.R. and the other main anti-war coalition, United for Peace and Justice. The two groups used to sponsor these rallies together, but have recently ceased cooperating.
Their dispute stems from two factors. First, there was some squabbling over the amount of time given to each group’s speakers at past rallies -- a surprising bit of selfishness from people who drive cars with bumper stickers proclaiming that everything they need to know they learned in kindergarten. Second, there was a disagreement over the Israel-Palestine issue. Apparently, A.N.S.W.E.R.’s position is that the Jews should be driven into the sea, while UPJ, being slightly more moderate, seeks to convince the Jews through peaceful dialogue to throw themselves in.
Before setting off for the Pentagon, the war protestors were addressed by a few speakers. The veterans watched quietly from just across the street until Cindy Sheehan was introduced. Even before she denounced President Bush as “the greatest terrorist in the world,” the mention of Sheehan’s name elicited from the vets a rigorous round of booing the likes of which is rarely heard outside the confines of a Philadelphia Eagles home game.
Finally, the march began. It was a motley collection of organizations and interest groups. The parade was led by a collection of anti-war military veterans, followed by the radical feminists of Code Pink. Then came a group of “drummers” who were really just banging sticks on the bottom of some empty pails, succeeded by the mandatory contingent of masked anarchists. Further back were lots of hippie-throwbacks, a good number of college students, some refugee from an anarchist rodeo twirling a lasso around himself, and a variety of people waving Lebanese and Palestinian flags. There were a few American flags as well, although nearly all of these were defaced with peace signs, political slogans, or sardonic renditions of corporate symbols.
The counter-demonstrators lined the first few hundred yards of the parade route, sometimes on both sides. Waving American flags, the vets gave the marchers a generally good heckling; “Go impress your professors!” was my favorite epithet. Despite their fetish for the right to “dissent,” the war protestors are unaccustomed to opposition, aside perhaps from a lone College Republican or two that might show up with an American flag at a campus protest. But these counter-demonstrators were different. They were combat veterans who still bristle at the memory of being jeered by these kinds of radicals when they returned from Vietnam. The marchers seemed not only nervous, but even ashamed -- to prove their patriotism to the vets, they began chanting “U.S.A.! U.S.A.!” This was probably the first time that chant has ever been heard at an anti-war rally.
I fell in with the anarchists, since that’s where the action usually is. There were around 100 of them, although the number of face piercings exceeded that by a factor of 10, even with most of their nose rings and tongue rings hidden by masks and bandanas. Their banners proclaimed slogans like “Destroy all government” and “No war but class war.” The vets yelled out to them “Come over here!” and “Show your faces!” Declining either invitation, the anarchists responded by chanting “Whose streets? Our streets!”
But the chant lacked conviction, seeing as the only thing protecting the anarchists from a smackdown by the vets was the line of police officers separating the two sides. I spotted a group of four anarchists carrying an upside down American flag and wondered how far they’d get with it. It turned out to be about 50 yards. Then, a vet managed to infiltrate the parade and snatched the flag from them, causing all four members of the revolutionary vanguard to run scurrying away.
After parading through this gauntlet of counter-protestors, the rest of the march was pretty subdued. I walked back toward a portable loudspeaker surrounded by Palestinian flags. A speaker was leading a chant of “Stop bombing Lebanon!”, which I found strange, since no one is bombing Lebanon. The chanting stopped when the microphone was passed to a Middle Eastern woman whose accent was so thick that no one could understand what they were supposed to be protesting. Finally, they agreed on singing another refrain of “War,” which seemed to be their automatic fallback position for almost any unexpected situation.
We arrived at the Pentagon parking lot, where a DJ was again playing “War.” I couldn’t take the song anymore, so I wandered off in search of the anarchists. I found them at the end of a bridge leading to the Pentagon itself. They were facing a line of police officers in full riot gear, replete with gas masks. “Whose streets? Our streets!” rang out again, but it was pretty clear whose streets these were, since the anarchists weren’t allowed to keep marching forward on them.
The police announced through a bullhorn that they’d use teargas if the protestors didn’t return to the parking lot. In response, a female-looking anarchist in dreadlocks yelled out to me and some other reporters nearby, asking if we’d help get the word out that the police, without cause, had gassed peaceful protestors. “No!” I instinctively yelled back, eliciting some shocked stares from the anarchists. Another anarchist approached us and asked if we’d stand between them and the police to prevent the cops from “attacking” them. He pointed to one elderly female reporter: “You ma’am, if you get in the middle, there’s no way the police will knock you over.” The request caught me off guard -- I was unaware that old women are used as human shields anywhere outside of the Middle East.
The group sat down in front of the police to decide what to do. Some people passed out food, at which point most of the anarchists removed their masks and bandanas to eat, then put them back on when they had finished. My respect for this bunch was rapidly declining.
They took a series of votes, decided to leave the bridge to the police, and backed off about 20 yards. Then, in one final act of “resistance” before vacating the bridge, one of them burned an American flag, to the cheers of all the rest. This incident went unreported in all of the mainstream media, despite the presence on the bridge of numerous journalists and photographers.
Walking home, I reflected on what the anti-war movement has degenerated into -- a squabbling collection of aging socialists, pro-Palestinian militants, and cowardly anarchists. The Vietnam vets -- who were there just to protect our monuments and show support for the troops -- had a surprising effect on the protestors. “Fight back! Fight back!” was one of the protestors’ slogans. But it was all talk. When confronted by people who actually fought and bled for their country, the protestors grew sheepish and embarrassed -- I would even say humiliated.
I couldn’t help but notice that the anarchists – the supposed hardcore fringe of the movement – waited until they were safely out of range of the veterans to burn a flag. Afraid of the vets, afraid of the cops, they don’t seem to be good for much other than occasionally smashing storefront windows when there’s no one else around.
“Whose streets? Our streets!”, they chanted. Not on Saturday they weren’t.
Too Too Funny, as I said in the video, the Anti War movement is dying.....gasp....struggle.....bleech.....arghhhhh....dead.

Gathering of Eagles Denver - After Action Report
UPDATE: March 20th, 2007
Boulder Daily Camera Intern Jeff Cushing - Click on the photo to get to the most recent thread talking about this story of the Boulder Daily Camera not sharing footage of the Gathering of Eagles at the Denver Anti War Rally.
Also, Please note, Mr. Cushing was holding the flyer I printed out about the Gathering of Eagles in his right hand as he taped me. I handed it to him as he began to interview.
His report showed up on the Daily Camera Web Site: Please Go Here to view it.
Dale in Littleton is helping me to organize a bake sale on the CU campus to help raise funds to pay for the Camera Intern to get honest about his reporting. Along with the picture above, he made up a flyer that contained these words:
"Boulder Daily Camera Intern Jeff Cushing at Denver Gathering of Eagles 3/17/2007
I will speak with my intern about his interviewing techniques. I just looked at his final video, and it does not include the footage he took of you or your group. Unfortunately, we don't have the time or resources required to post the several hours of video that he probably took. Again, I'm sorry that you were offended, and I am planning on speaking with him today about the event. ----- Jennifer Falor -- Online Editor DailyCamera.com
Again, he is an intern, unpaid at that. The internship is a learning experience and I will speak to him about your issues. ----- Jennifer Falor -- Online Editor DailyCamera.com
Bake Sale --- Teaching and Paying for REQUIRED Balance in media reporting. Taking the time, and providing the resources they say they need."
Now, I have put plenty of videos up on YOU TUBE, and with the 25 or so minutes of tape this young man took of our Gathering, my guess is it would only take about an hour of my time to put all 25 minutes of the interviews up on the web. So, in that vein, we are going to hold a bake sale at CU to raise funds to help this young man with his "resource" problems.
UPDATE: March 19th, 2007
Here are several observations:
I showed up first about 11:45 AM and as I was walking up to the capitol, a couple of young teens saw my gathering of eagles poster and started heckling me. They knew about us and about our counter.
About twenty people were milling around up on the steps.
Dale from Littleton showed up and we talked and demonstrated together for about fifteen minutes when two bikers showed up. This husband and wife team both help at funerals for our soldiers, protecting them from psycho demonstrators who use funerals to make political hay.
The four of us held hands at about 12:15 and said a prayer together. I asked Heavenly Father to keep us safe, to be with out soldiers and to bless out nation.
Then the four of us just stood together, chatting with anyone who came up to talk to us.
A few minutes after the prayer a self identified daily camera reporter asked if he could interview me for the on line video version of his paper. I said sure and we started in. He quickly realized that we were demonstrating against the demonstrators and his questioning became very strange. I have contacted his editor to tell her of this bizarre behavior on the part of a non-biased reporter.

Hi,
I met your daily camera reporter yesterday in denver at the anti war rally. I was wondering if he had the guts to put his report up on the internet for everyone to see. I have not noticed any reporting yet.
As a citizen journalist I have found the time to report what I observed, and plan to go into much more depth tomorow in my after action report.
Here is the beginning of my report:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1802519/posts\?page=7
Please note post number 8 in that thread. It mentions a little about your reporters interview of me.

Her Response:
On Sun Mar 18 13:32 , 'Falor, Jennifer' sent:
Hi Jenny,
The person in those photos is not a Daily Camera reporter.
I did have a University of Colorado intern at the rally this weekend filming video, but that picture didn't look like him either. Maybe he had a friend or colleague with him. If it was my intern, I'm sorry if you felt offended or led on. The internship is a learning experience. If you'd like to tell me more about how you felt like you were baited (what kinds of questions did he ask, etc.), I would be happy to talk with him about the situation.
Anyhow, the video will be posted on the Web site for the anniversary of the war, which I think is Tuesday.

online editor
My response back:
Jennifer,
Here are two identifying photographs of your reporter interviewing me. They are attached.
I asked him who he worked for and he said he was a reporter with the Daily Camera. I don't care if he was an intern or a reporter, he was representing your paper, and I gave him a copy of our gathering of eagles flyer with my business card stapled to it.
To make things fair for your readers, at least to hear the answers we gave in context with the questions, all we would ask is that he include his questions in the video, so that the viewers themselves can decide if he was baiting or not. The questions felt one sided to me and that is why I stopped being interviewed. However, he talked to two other members of the Gathering of Eagles for quite a while and we would appreciate those videos to be put up as well, with questions included.
A reporter from the Denver Post interviewed us, but nothing appeared in that paper today, despite columns of text, and the nine news team was so close to us I could have tapped them on the shoulder, but they kept their backs turned to us....although we had seven veterans show up to lend support to our Gathering of Eagles.
NPR had this to say about the Washington March:
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=8976792
Even the reporter from NPR realized the coverage was one sided. Why was that? Thousands of vets and their families counter demo the socialist peace niks and nobody thinks it is news worthy?
I think you guys can do much better, and I would like to see those videos, all of them, posted on your web site, with linkage from your front page to give equal time to the citizens in Colorado who support our president, the troops, and the war.
Jenny
Here are copies of the two photos I sent to her:

I think the "not my reporter" line of argument is hilarious...
After the Hills and I were interviewed the reporter skeedaddled, and soon after the interviews, the moonbats arrived marching up the street. They had started their march at the Halliburton building, and then marched up to the capitol. They were a noisy freak show of a demonstration. I did not take pictures, simply because I don't want to waste space on my blog and here giving them the time of day.
But we had a whole contingent of reporters taking pictures....except for the Daily Comrade reporter, and a couple of passersby, we were not photographed or videotaped by anyone but ourselves.
A reporter from the Denver Post came down to talk to us for a few minutes, but nothing appeared in sundays paper. I'm curious to see if she prints anything for the anniversary of the war.
When the rest of our group showed up we said the pledge of allegiance together as shown on the video. Then we all talked to a variety of people, mostly young teens, who came down to our group to exchange political views. Our letherneck marine, PitBull, was the most effective debater in my opinion.
At one point a young vet chanced by the demo and he was curious to know what was going on. Once he realized what the anti war people were saying, he went a little nuts, yelling at them, shouting and he was really angry. When he ran up to them to yell some more a whole big group of them came down to talk to him - swearing and shouting. A denver cop in a very large SUV drove right up onto the sidewalk and put his car in between our group and the teens, who frankly looked like they were mostly about 17 years old.
After Pit Bull talked to these kids for about a half hour, I decided it was time to go. Had to attend my daughters soccer game. I asked our group if we could sing the pledge together. So we all belted it out amidst the laughter and guffaws of the socialist youth who were looking on.
Then two vets walked me to my car, and it was over.
Just a final thought. I have gone to these various Denver events for years, and I can easily say that this one was had the least amount of people. No more than 300 total, and after the march, the numbers broke off considerably. As soon as the speakers started voicing the various empowerment messages, people left in droves...walking right past our group....sort of staring at us, and then walking on.
A recognized a few old timers, who have shown up to several of these events....the ones I mentioned before in my organizational thread. They looked drunk like usual, and were some of the most vocal and verbally abusive.
For those who were wondering what the heck Kim Jung Il's photos and messages were doing at these rallies, I would just ask you if it makes sense to have the great leaders propoganda at an event he pays for himself?
You can bet he and Sadaam both shoved money at these demos hand over fist the past few years...and now that Sadaam is dead, I think we can safely say that North Korea is the big funder of these commie demos in America. How would it be if a few investigative reporters pulled a Lisa Ling on the Anti War movement. Went underground, followed the money train from ANSWER to WORLD WORKERS all the way back to North Korea...and then published it for all the world to see.
The only people I know of who have even suggested a tie are writers at Front Page Magazine.
But the truth will come out as it always does, and the truth will set the world free.
The Denver Post was scratching its head on sundays cover story....wondering where all the people have gone?
I believe many Americans are on the fence right now, confused by all the rhetoric. But I think most Americans will be grateful when the war is over and our side has held the terrorists accountable for their crimes and democracy is flourishing in Iraq and Afganistan.
As I was talking to one person at the rally I suggested the idea that five years from now I would be able to go as a tourist to downtown Baghdad and drive down George Bush boulevard to a wonderful 5 star resort.
His jaw dropped.

Free Republic Thread on this Gathering:
I just arrived home from the Gathering of Eagles in Denver, and decided to immediately do this first after action report. I'll add in the rest of the videos and pictures later, but I just had to share this first clip of the Eagles saying the Pledge of Allegiance.

A little girl who was at the Anti-War rally kept staring at us during the rally. I could tell she wanted to join our group. And next thing I knew she was standing next to me with her little rainbow peace sign on UN flag blue cardboard. When the leathernecks showed up to help with our demo I asked if she wanted to join us in the Pledge and she nodded yes. It was really cute. I hope she didn't get in trouble with her Mom for coming over and demonstrating with us.

Here is the video clip:

Pit bull talking to a group of young people who were self declared socialists. One young man who was wearing a Mao T-Shirt when confronted with the fact of Maos murders claimed that the 40 million dead in China under Maos watch died because of Famines.
I appreciated the strong, yet patient way that pitbull, a leatherneck marine, talked with these young people. I hope he made an impact on their brainwashed and usefully idiotic minds.

Denver Anti War Rally March 17th Noon at the Capitol

UPDATE:
Received another email from my friend Joe Today. He titled it "I got fired today". Here is what the email said:
HEY TO ALL,
I had my last mission today. I have turned in all my PPE's (personal protection equipment) and will be packing to go home in four to five days. They are talking about having us home sometime between the 25th to the 30th. The exact dates are not out for security reasons.
It is hard however saying goodbye to all the Iragi IP's and nationals that I have meet here, I am going home to a great country and a safe place. They are still here fighting for life.
Love to all, and thank you all for your support and prayers JOJO
Here is the poster I made last night for the Rally:

I just read this thread at Free Republic....truly funny. Especially the line that claimed:
"A handful of pro-war people, some volunteer and some probably paid to be there, will stage a counter-demonstration. This relatively tiny pro-death contingent will garner 50 percent of the media coverage if those on the side of peace do everything right. If a single demonstrator for peace turns violent in any way, that story will take up far more than 50 percent of the news, and that news will hurt the cause of peace and justice."
Laughing out loud as I read this. Whenever you see those thousands of professional signs calling for Bush's impeachment etc...at the anti-war rallys you can bet that the person holding it is a rent a mob type who showed up for his twenty bucks and photo op.
Free Republic events are defined by citizen activists, who make their own signs, pay their own way, and organize because they are so galvanized by the events they are supporting, that they cannot sit on their bums and do nothing.
I know that is the case for me. I have probably spent ten hours, about $75.00 of my own money, and will spend two and a half hours on saturday organizing the Denver rally. How many people will show up to counter? I have no idea. I will be thrilled if it is ten, and I would go even if I thought I would be alone demonstrating.
Fact is, conservatives are busy. Busy raising their children and grandchildren, busy serving in their communities and churches, and busy at work.
Those who make up the anti-war crowd, at least the professional demonstrators, are largely those who have abdicated family responsibilities by aborting away the children, and getting lost in "save the animal" and "save the planet" causes. So a couple of hours demonstrating or acting up, especially if free beer is involved, is a fun day at the park for them.
I plan to do a little investigative work this saturday, talking a little more to the anti-people, asking them why they are there and what they hope to achieve by showing up.
As for the true numbers of those who are parts of email groups etc...I have been on the ANSWER email list for the past few weeks to get info about rallys, etc... and before I was on the MoveOn. Web site during the election, also to get updates, etc...I even had a Boulder group from Move ON call me up to ask me to help pass out leaflets. I told the gal who called that I was a Neo-Con and was only on their list to get updates. She laughed and told me she was on the GOP email list for the same reason.
Anyway, don't assume when they start throwing out numbers at demos and numbers of supporters that everyone who contacts them is supportive of their activities.

I'm dedicating this counter rally to my friend Joe Mangus who is serving his third tour in the middle east. He sent an email this morning titled "I'm going HOOOOME!!" and the email simply said:
Hello to all,
I am in my final week here. I should be home some time between the 28th and the 5th. I will let you know the exact date when I get it. I have to go out four more times then I am done DONE DONE...!!!!!!
Love JOJO
Joe is our adopted uncle. When my son Andrew was born, Joe was one of the volunteer firemen in our town who showed up to help us transfer to the hospital. Through a series of events he ended up in the ambulence with Andy and he later tole me that he "prayed the biggest prayer of my life" for our little boy. As he prayed Andy's vital signs normalized, and we have always felt and believed that Heavenly Father sent Joe to us to help provide spiritual backup to the situation.
Because of this former relationship with Joe, we have always loved him and considered him a good friend.
A few years ago I did a freep that was covered on the news. 9 news here in Denver. Joe's Mom Ruth was watching when I was on television talking about counter protesting the moonbat commies in Denver who were against the war. She came up to me after church the next day and asked if that was really me on the news. I told her yes, and then she said that she had talked to Joe in Iraq about what I had done, and she said that when he heard I was supporting him, on the streets of Denver, he burst into tears because it meant so much to him to feel like he was remembered and that people back home were aware of the sacrifices of the soldiers and willing to support them in a vocal way.
After Ruth told me about his reaction to my Freeping, it became very easy for me to find the time to Freep, knowing that Joe was so grateful.
Anyway, he'll be home in a couple weeks, but I did want to dedicate this post to him for his years of service to this important cause. And I organized the counter on saturday mostly for him and for the soldiers like him who went back over and over and over again.

Another email from the Communists at ANSWER
I just received another email from the Communist Front Gourp ANSWER which is organizing the anti-war rally this saturday at the Pentagon.
It said:
"Dear Jenny
Next Saturday, March 17, tens of thousands of people like you will be marching on the Pentagon to say no to the illegal war and occupation of Iraq. Bush’s escalation of the war will only bring more death and misery to the people of Iraq and increase the number of casualties among U.S. soldiers. We will be marching on the Pentagon because the bloated military war budget will exceed $590 billion, while 47 million people in this country are without health care coverage and one out of four children is born into extreme poverty."
These people really don't get that they in fact are the ones who encourage and give aid and comfort to our enemies in this war. They have so much blood on their hands.
I will be in Denver this saturday demonstrating against them.
Will you join me?

March 17th march on the Pentagon
I get email updates from ANSWER and they had a press conference on the March on the Pentagon the other day. Here is the link:
Gathering of Eagles is also growing in numbers, our Denver rally will likely have ten or twelve people to counter the demo. Which is pretty good considering the last few anti-war demos I've been to, our side had less than five in attendance.

Michelle Malkin: Gathering Eagles
Click on the photo to get to my Blog entry on the DENVER Gathering of Eagles Event
"How many times have you sat in front of the television over the last four years, watching antiwar activists march on Washington, chase the ROTC off your local college campus, vandalize war memorials, insult the troops, and wreak havoc under the surrender banner?
How many times have you thought to yourself: What can I do?
Here is the answer: Get off the sofa and join the Gathering of Eagles on March 17 in Washington, D.C. On that day, well-funded, celebrity-studded antiwar groups plan to march to the Pentagon on a protest route that will take them past the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and climax in calls for immediate withdrawal of our troops from Iraq, destruction of America’s “global military machine,” shutdown of the enemy combatant detention facilities at Guantanamo Bay and impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney (plus an end to “colonial occupation” in “Palestine, Haiti, and everywhere” for good measure)."
"Cindy Sheehan has responded to the Eagles by deriding them on the Gold Star Families for Peace website as “Rightest [sic] America Haters” who are “brainwashed and propagandized.”
The question isn’t, “What can I do to respond to the Sheehanistas?” The question now is, “What will you do?”
Get off the darned sofa and show your support. March 17. Washington, D.C. Find out more at www.gatheringofeagles.org."
I am organizing a Gathering of Eagles counter demonstration here in Denver, for those who cannot attend the DC event. Go Here for more information.
And the previous blog entry announcing this event.
