Natural News: Thousands of families sue over Vaccine link to Autism

"The U.S. Court of Claims is hearing a series of arguments from parents who charge that vaccines gave their children autism.
The claims court is considering arguments from 4,900 parents who say that the vaccines produced autism or neurological problems in their previously normal, healthy children. While the disorder normally develops before the age of three, many of the parents claim that their older children only developed the condition after being vaccinated.
In order to deal with the large number of claims, the court's Office of Special Masters ordered lawyers for the families to select three test cases for each of the three vaccine-autism arguments that have been put forward.
The group currently being heard claims that autism was produced by a preservative thimerosal, which contains mercury. The vaccine caused mercury to build up in children's brains, the lawyers say, reversing their normal mental development when brain cells became chronically hyperactive in order to try and purge the metal.
Mercury is a potent neurotoxin that is known to cause a variety of developmental and brain problems, especially in children.
"In some kids, there's enough of it that it sets off this chronic neuroinflammatory pattern that can lead to regressive autism," attorney Mike Williams said.
In the past, many children's vaccines were made with the thimerosal. Although the FDA denies that the thimerosal in vaccines is dangerous, it ordered the chemical phased out of childhood vaccines in 1999. It is currently found only in adult vaccines and in certain multi-dose flu vaccines that are also given to children.
Another group of parents, which went before the court in 2007 and has yet to hear a verdict, argued that autism was produced not only by thimerosal, but also by the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, which does not contain the chemical. A third group, to be heard in September, alleges that only the MMR vaccine produced autism in their children."

"As a journalist by profession - and temperament- I have spent far more time writing about protests than joining them. But on Wednesday in Washington, D.C., I marched with a crowd - one of thousands - held a sign, chanted, even wore an angry tee-shirt. As a finale, I stomped off to see a powerful, long-term congressman whom I first met when I worked as a newspaper reporter.
Years ago I used to ask him questions and wait for answers, but time and children change things. Now he had agreed to be the one to listen.
"I am here because federal health officials are involved in a major conflict of interest," I told Congressman Gary Ackerman. "And they're still making kids sick because of it."
At that I knew I had his attention. Even if he wasn't buying it right away, he would think about it.
"Maybe this is what happened to my kid, too," I said. "Maybe it isn't. But maybe someone should check. Someone with good science and no agenda."
The congressman nodded. He's a Democrat from Queens, New York and a foreign affairs expert, but one who also understands what I call "the war at home." He's fought for immigrants and AIDS babies and kids with autism, too.
"It's as simple as Investigative Reporting 101," I said, remembering the reporter I used to be. "The Centers for Disease Control are supposed to promote vaccinations. But they are also supposed to check on vaccine safety. You can't promote the same thing you are monitoring."
As the congressman listened, alarms went off in the Rayburn, the congressional office building. An announcement urged everyone to stay inside: tornado warnings.
I knew that Congressman Ackerman had already taken a step farther than most by co-sponsoring the Mercury-Free Vaccines Act of 2007 - a bill that never made it into the Senate. The bill notes what quickie news reports about this complicated issue often miss. That kids could still get sick because while mercury is out of childhood vaccinations it remains in other vaccinations including those for flu which are routinely given to women of childbearing age, pregnant women and, yes, children. Nobody really knows how much mercury is too much for each individual.
An hour earlier in at that rally in front of the Capitol, Robert Kennedy Jr., the renowned environmental activist, had explained, with his family's signature passion and flair, that an amount equivalent to 60 percent of the mercury the CDC took out of childhood vaccines is still in flu shots. "That's the Thimerosal generation," Kennedy had told the crowd at the rally after Wednesday's march, as loud, angry cheers filled the air. "That's the vaccine generation and it's the sickest generation in the history of this country."
Outside Rayburn now, the rain still poured, although the next announcement said it was safe to leave the building. Congressman Ackerman, on his way to the floor to vote, urged me to take a train instead of a plane back to New York. I didn't listen to him and sat inside a jet at National Airport for hours which gave me plenty of time to reflect on what I had just done: Why I had marched?
The obvious, quick answer is that I marched on Washington this week for all the kids. I marched because I believe that the mercury preservative in vaccinations - vaccinations that are supposed to protect kids from diseases - have also made many of them very sick. It's a long complicated tale that begins in the late 1980s when babies and toddlers started to get many more vaccinations than they had in years past and hence way too much mercury. Given that mercury is still in those flu shots, and in other vaccinations it's sad but not surprising that the autism epidemic of recent years may indeed be getting worse. One in 150 children are now diagnosed with this biological illness; in New Jersey, the numbers are now 1 in 6o for boys. Autism causes communication, behavioral and social deficits. In the worst cases that can mean no speech, no toilet training and aggressive and self-injurious behaviors
I wish I could say this is the whole story. But the tale of mercury and why it and/or other toxic ingredients in vaccines could be causing this epidemic has as many zigs and zags as a kid with autism who has "eloped" from his parent's watchful eye. As for our family's story, it has its own zigs and zags too.
My older son, Dan, now 20, has had autism since he was three and a half. That's when he stopped talking and in many other ways fell apart. Something in the environment poisoned him. I suspected this, deeply, when it first happened, but back then there was nowhere to go with such information. Still, how else do you explain why, over a few months, and without any obvious provocation, a bright, happy kid who could switch between three or four languages became mute, "weird," sick to his stomach and unable to learn at anything faster than a snail's pace? How else do you explain that, as the years passed, the old Dan did not return?
Nobody really could explain it.
So for a long time, I let the idea of a cure rest. My husband and I put our energy into making Danny's school program as good as it could be for a kid so severely injured.
Then, about two years ago, prompted by some younger mothers, I started to read about mercury poisoning and other environmental toxins and about kids who were getting better by cleaning those toxins out.
Dan had spent two years of his life in Hong Kong, where we were foreign correspondents. As a toddler he loved to order raw jellyfish whenever we took him out to lunch or dinner. In a great, kid-friendly city like Hong Kong that happened often. Sometimes he'd say a word or two of greeting in Cantonese. Perhaps what he said in Chinese was "Please serve me some mercury."
And perhaps what he also got in Hong Kong or in Mexico City was a dumped vaccine from America, that had accidentally gotten too much mercury in it. "Hot Lots" are what they now call them.
Like autism, like the mercury story, this is only the tip of our iceberg too.
Late last year we took our son to a doctor who treats environmental toxicity and slowly as he gets cleaned out he is making progress, taking new steps. Literal steps. We can ask him to go upstairs and get his shoes on and he does. We don't have to follow him to the closet to make sure he gets there and gets it done.

About 2,000 anti-vaccine activists rallied on the Capitol ground in Washington DC on June 4, 2008, to hear Jim Carrey, Jenny McCarthy, and other celebrities speak out against vaccinations.
Families from around the country joined actors Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey on June 4 for the "Green Our Vaccines Rally" in Washington DC. The rally was sponsored by Talk About Curing Autism (TACA), Generation Rescue, HEAL Foundation and Moms Against Mercury.
The event began with a march through the streets of the nation's capitol and concluded at a rally site in front of the Capitol Building. Following the march, a press conference was held featuring remarks from three doctors and environmental activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr., as well as McCarthy and Carrey. Ms. McCarthy concluded her remarks by asking the rally participants to turn and hold up photographs of their children for the TV cameras set up behind them, while "Change is Gonna Come" by Sam Cooke played in the background.

HOBART -- Jimmy Gerodemos puts in 14-hour days running his Northwest Indiana restaurants.
But the Munster resident, whose son, Louie, is autistic, says the restaurant business, as hard as it is, is nothing compared to dealing with autism.
Gerodemos and his wife, Violet, believe their son's illness is the result of immunizations.
"He was a fine, normal kid when he was 18 months old, and the day after he got his immunizations, he changed," Gerodemos said. "He's never been the same."
Gerodemos has chartered a bus to Washington, D.C., and is inviting Northwest Indiana parents of autistic children to ride with him to participate in the June 4 "Green Our Vaccines" Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey DC Rally for Autism.
The ride is free for the first 55 parents to fill the bus, Gerodemos said. His Paragon Restaurant is footing the bus bill.
"Whoever has autistic kids is welcome to come," Gerodemos said. "They just have to get their own hotel room."
The bus will leave from the Paragon, 1701 E. 37th Ave., Hobart, on Tuesday, June 3, and will return Wednesday, June 5, Gerodemos said.
Gerodemos said he's "stepping up to the plate. We're not going to back down," he said. "We have to get our point across."
Green Our Vaccines promotes spacing infant and childhood vaccinations to avoid possible toxic effects on children.
I'm wondering if the MSM, who are funded by Big Pharma, will even bother to cover this rally. Bloggers, do your thing!!!

I have to applaud Jenny McCarthy for her tenacity. Her much needed voice has blasted through media outlets and the recent "debate" on Larry King Live was so timely. The most distressing part of her interview with King, at least to me, was when she talked about how she would never know what her son would have been like without first being hit by the vaccines.
I want to testify to her and to parents like her that the day will come when you will know your child in full Human Glory: Physical, Emotional, and Intellectual wholeness. I did not mention Spiritual Capacity because it is a well known fact that autistic children have highly developed spiritual abilities and insights.
During the resurrection all of us will be able to shed all known deformities and disabilities and we will be able to lay claim to the fullness of our Godly Heritage as sons and daughters of Heavenly Father and live healthy through eternity. That is my testimony and my witness.

When the various obstetrics societies PROVE that they have the will to reform themselves internally by setting up standards of care that are more about the mother and the baby than they are about the doctor and staff at the hospital, then I will feel more open about listening to any edicts they have about my lifestyle.

When society stops locking up our midwives for bogus reasons, embrace and promote natural mothering as the IDEAL for a new baby (Natural Childbirth, Attachment Parenting, and Long Term Ecological Breastfeeding), then I will believe you have found your soul as doctors.

Nixa, MO – It was announced that the US Court of Federal Claims and the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program ruled in favor of a child who regressed into autism as a result of vaccinations, several of which contained the mercury-based preservative thimerosal.
Case documents state that the vaccines administered to the claimant significantly aggravated an underlying condition that ultimately led to regressive encephalopathy and symptoms of autism.
According to official court documents, the child was developing normally until given the vaccines, and shortly after the shots, regressed into full autism. The child was diagnosed by nationally recognized autism medical specialists.
For more than a decade, thousands of parents have come forward with reports of sharp regression in their children following immunizations. The cases of autism have dramatically spiked in the past 15 years to as many as 1 in 150 children, making it the leading childhood developmental disorder today.
The National Autism Association (NAA) sees the ruling as confirmation of what so many parents have been saying for years. “This case echoes the stories of thousands of children across the country. With almost 5,000 similar cases pending in vaccine court, we are confident that this is just the first of many that will confirm what we have believed for so long, vaccines can and do cause children to regress into autism,” says Wendy Fournier, parent and president of NAA. “We call on the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to acknowledge that the current vaccine schedule is not safe for every child and as with the administration of any medicine, individual risks and susceptibilities must be considered for each patient.”

After years of insisting there is no evidence to link vaccines with the onset of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), the US government has quietly conceded a vaccine-autism case in the Court of Federal Claims.
The unprecedented concession was filed on November 9, and sealed to protect the plaintiff's identify. It was obtained through individuals unrelated to the case.
The claim, one of 4,900 autism cases currently pending in Federal "Vaccine Court," was conceded by US Assistant Attorney General Peter Keisler and other Justice Department officials, on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services, the "defendant" in all Vaccine Court cases.
The child's claim against the government -- that mercury-containing vaccines were the cause of her autism -- was supposed to be one of three "test cases" for the thimerosal-autism theory currently under consideration by a three-member panel of Special Masters, the presiding justices in Federal Claims Court.
Keisler wrote that medical personnel at the HHS Division of Vaccine Injury Compensation (DVIC) had reviewed the case and "concluded that compensation is appropriate."
The doctors conceded that the child was healthy and developing normally until her 18-month well-baby visit, when she received vaccinations against nine different diseases all at once (two contained thimerosal).
Days later, the girl began spiraling downward into a cascade of illnesses and setbacks that, within months, presented as symptoms of autism, including: No response to verbal direction; loss of language skills; no eye contact; loss of "relatedness;" insomnia; incessant screaming; arching; and "watching the florescent lights repeatedly during examination."
Seven months after vaccination, the patient was diagnosed by Dr. Andrew Zimmerman, a leading neurologist at the Kennedy Krieger Children's Hospital Neurology Clinic, with "regressive encephalopathy (brain disease) with features consistent with autistic spectrum disorder, following normal development." The girl also met the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders (DSM-IV) official criteria for autism.
In its written concession, the government said the child had a pre-existing mitochondrial disorder that was "aggravated" by her shots, and which ultimately resulted in an ASD diagnosis.
"The vaccinations received on July 19, 2000, significantly aggravated an underlying mitochondrial disorder," the concession says, "which predisposed her to deficits in cellular energy metabolism, and manifested as a regressive encephalopathy with features of ASD."
This statement is good news for the girl and her family, who will now be compensated for the lifetime of care she will require. But its implications for the larger vaccine-autism debate, and for public health policy in general, are not as certain.
In fact, the government's concession seems to raise more questions than it answers.
1) Is there a connection between vaccines, mitochondrial disorders and a diagnosis of autism, at least in some cases?
Mitochondria, you may recall from biology class, are the little powerhouses within cells that convert food into electrical energy, partly through a complex process called "oxidative phosphorylation." If this process is impaired, mitochondrial disorder will ensue.
The child in this case had several markers for Mt disease, which was confirmed by muscle biopsy. Mt disease is often marked by lethargy, poor muscle tone, poor food digestion and bowel problems, something found in many children diagnosed with autism.
But mitochondrial disorders are rare in the general population, affecting some 2-per-10,000 people (or just 0.2%). So with 4,900 cases filed in Vaccine Court, this case should be the one and only, extremely rare instance of Mt disease in all the autism proceedings.
But it is not.
Mitochondrial disorders are now thought to be the most common disease associated with ASD. Some journal articles and other analyses have estimated that 10% to 20% of all autism cases may involve mitochondrial disorders, which would make them one thousand times more common among people with ASD than the general population.
Another article, published in the Journal of Child Neurology and co-authored by Dr. Zimmerman, showed that 38% of Kennedy Krieger Institute autism patients studied had one marker for impaired oxidative phosphorylation, and 47% had a second marker.
The authors -- who reported on a case-study of the same autism claim conceded in Vaccine Court -- noted that "children who have (mitochondrial-related) dysfunctional cellular energy metabolism might be more prone to undergo autistic regression between 18 and 30 months of age if they also have infections or immunizations at the same time."
An interesting aspect of Mt disease in autism is that, with ASD, the mitochondrial disease seems to be milder than in "classic" cases of Mt disorder. In fact, classic Mt disease is almost always inherited, either passed down by the mother through mitochondrial DNA, or by both parents through nuclear DNA.
In autism-related Mt disease, however, the disorder is not typically found in other family members, and instead appears to be largely of the sporadic variety, which may now account for 75% of all mitochondrial disorders.
Meanwhile, an informal survey of seven families of children with cases currently pending in Vaccine Court revealed that all seven showed markers for mitochondrial dysfunction, dating back to their earliest medical tests. The facts in all seven claims mirror the case just conceded by the government: Normal development followed by vaccination, immediate illness, and rapid decline culminating in an autism diagnosis.
2) With 4,900 cases pending, and more coming, will the government concede those with underlying Mt disease -- and if it not, will the Court award compensation?
The Court will soon begin processing the 4900 cases pending before it. What if 10% to 20% of them can demonstrate the same Mt disease and same set of facts as those in the conceded case? Would the government be obliged to concede 500, or even 1,000 cases? What impact would that have on public opinion? And is there enough money currently in the vaccine injury fund to cover so many settlements?
When asked for a comment last week about the court settlement, a spokesman for HHS furnished the following written statement:
"DVIC has reviewed the scientific information concerning the allegation that vaccines cause autism and has found no credible evidence to support the claim. Accordingly, in every case under the Vaccine Act, DVIC has maintained the position that vaccines do not cause autism, and has never concluded in any case that autism was caused by vaccination."
3) If the government is claiming that vaccines did not "cause" autism, but instead aggravated a condition to "manifest" as autism, isn't that a very fine distinction?
For most affected families, such linguistic gymnastics is not so important. And even if a vaccine injury "manifested" as autism in only one case, isn't that still a significant development worthy of informing the public?
On the other hand, perhaps what the government is claiming is that vaccination resulted in the symptoms of autism, but not in an actual, factually correct diagnosis of autism itself.
4) If the government is claiming that this child does NOT have autism, then how many other children might also have something else that merely "mimics" autism?
Is it possible that 10%-20% of the cases that we now label as "autism," are not autism at all, but rather some previously undefined "look-alike" syndrome that merely presents as "features" of autism?
This question gets to the heart of what autism actually is. The disorder is defined solely as a collection of features, nothing more. If you have the features (and the diagnosis), you have the disorder. The underlying biology is the great unknown.
But let's say the government does determine that these kids don't have actual "autism" (something I speculated on HuffPost a year ago). Then shouldn't the Feds go back and test all people with ASD for impaired oxidative phosphorylation, perhaps reclassifying many of them?
If so, will we then see "autism" cases drop by tens, if not hundreds of thousands of people? Will there be a corresponding ascension of a newly described disorder, perhaps something like "Vaccine Aggravated Mitochondrial Disease with Features of ASD?"
And if this child was technically "misdiagnosed" with DSM-IV autism by Dr Zimmerman, how does he feel about HHS doctors issuing a second opinion re-diagnosis of his patient, whom they presumably had neither met nor examined? (Zimmerman declined an interview).
And along those lines, aren't Bush administration officials somewhat wary of making long-distance, retroactive diagnoses from Washington, given that the Terry Schiavo incident has not yet faded from national memory?
5) Was this child's Mt disease caused by a genetic mutation, as the government implies, and wouldn't that have manifested as "ASD features" anyway?
In the concession, the government notes that the patient had a "single nucleotide change" in the mitochondrial DNA gene T2387C, implying that this was the underlying cause of her manifested "features" of autism.
While it's true that some inherited forms of Mt disease can manifest as developmental delays, (and even ASD in the form of Rhett Syndrome) these forms are linked to identified genetic mutations, of which T2387C is not involved. In fact little, if anything, is known about the function of this particular gene.
What's more, there is no evidence that this girl, prior to vaccination, suffered from any kind of "disorder" at all- genetic, mitochondrial or otherwise. Some forms of Mt disease are so mild that the person is unaware of being affected. This perfectly developing girl may have had Mt disorder at the time of vaccination, but nobody detected, or even suspected it.
And, there is no evidence to suggest that this girl would have regressed into symptoms consistent with a DSM-IV autism diagnosis without her vaccinations. If there was such evidence, then why on earth would these extremely well-funded government attorneys compensate this alleged injury in Vaccine Court? Why wouldn't they move to dismiss, or at least fight the case at trial?
6) What are the implications for research?
The concession raises at least two critical research questions: What are the causes of Mt dysfunction; and how could vaccines aggravate that dysfunction to the point of "autistic features?"
While some Mt disorders are clearly inherited, the "sporadic" form is thought to account for 75% of all cases, according to the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation. So what causes sporadic Mt disease? "Medicines or other toxins," says the Cleveland Clinic, a leading authority on the subject.
Use of the AIDS drug AZT, for example, can cause Mt disorders by deleting large segments of mitochondrial DNA. If that is the case, might other exposures to drugs or toxins (i.e., thimerosal, mercury in fish, air pollution, pesticides, live viruses) also cause sporadic Mt disease in certain subsets of children, through similar genotoxic mechanisms?
Among the prime cellular targets of mercury are mitochondria, and thimerosal-induced cell death has been associated with the depolarization of mitochondrial membrane, according to the International Journal of Molecular Medicine among several others. (Coincidently, the first case of Mt disease was diagnosed in 1959, just 15 years after the first autism case was named, and two decades after thimerosal's introduction as a vaccine preservative.)
Regardless of its cause, shouldn't HHS sponsor research into Mt disease and the biological mechanisms by which vaccines could aggravate the disorder? We still do not know what it was, exactly, about this girl's vaccines that aggravated her condition. Was it the thimerosal? The three live viruses? The two attenuated viruses? Other ingredients like aluminum? A combination of the above?
And of course, if vaccine injuries can aggravate Mt disease to the point of manifesting as autism features, then what other underlying disorders or conditions (genetic, autoimmune, allergic, etc.) might also be aggravated to the same extent?
7) What are the implications for medicine and public health?
Should the government develop and approve new treatments for "aggravated mitochondrial disease with ASD features?" Interestingly, many of the treatments currently deployed in Mt disease (i.e., coenzyme Q10, vitamin B-12, lipoic acid, biotin, dietary changes, etc.) are part of the alternative treatment regimen that many parents use on their children with ASD.
And, if a significant minority of autism cases can be linked to Mt disease and vaccines, shouldn't these products one day carry an FDA Black Box warning label, and shouldn't children with Mt disorders be exempt from mandatory immunization?
8) What are the implications for the vaccine-autism debate?
It's too early to tell. But this concession could conceivably make it more difficult for some officials to continue insisting there is "absolutely no link" between vaccines and autism.
It also puts the Federal Government's Vaccine Court defense strategy somewhat into jeopardy. DOJ lawyers and witnesses have argued that autism is genetic, with no evidence to support an environmental component. And, they insist, it's simply impossible to construct a chain of events linking immunizations to the disorder.
Government officials may need to rethink their legal strategy, as well as their public relations campaigns, given their own slightly contradictory concession in this case.
9) What is the bottom line here?
The public, (including world leaders) will demand to know what is going on inside the US Federal health establishment. Yes, as of now, n=1, a solitary vaccine-autism concession. But what if n=10% or 20%? Who will pay to clean up that mess?
The significance of this concession will unfortunately be fought over in the usual, vitriolic way -- and I fully expect to be slammed for even raising these questions. Despite that, the language of this concession cannot be changed, or swept away.
Its key words are "aggravated" and "manifested." Without the aggravation of the vaccines, it is uncertain that the manifestation would have occurred at all.
When a kid with peanut allergy eats a peanut and dies, we don't say "his underlying metabolic condition was significantly aggravated to the extent of manifesting as an anaphylactic shock with features of death."
No, we say the peanut killed the poor boy. Remove the peanut from the equation, and he would still be with us today.
Many people look forward to hearing more from HHS officials about why they are settling this claim. But whatever their explanation, they cannot change the fundamental facts of this extraordinary case:
The United State government is compensating at least one child for vaccine injuries that resulted in a diagnosis of autism."
And that is big news, no matter how you want to say it.

NYT: ABC new show will go on despite protest by Doctors
Pediatricians protest autism/vaccine link in new television show.
"ABC said on Monday it would include a disclaimer about the plot line of the debut episode of the drama “Eli Stone,” which links childhood vaccines to autism, and direct viewers to a government Web site that discredits such a link.
ABC’s decision follows a call by the American Academy of Pediatrics for ABC to cancel the opening episode of “Eli Stone,” which is scheduled to be broadcast at 10 p.m. Thursday.
In a letter to ABC executives on Friday, Dr. Renee R. Jenkins, the president of the pediatrics academy, warned that the episode “could lead to a tragic decline in immunization rates.” The first episode portrays a lawyer who wins a case against a drug company on behalf of a mother who believes that a preservative in a vaccine caused her child’s autism."
And how would Dr. Jenkins pay for her pediatric practice if she did not have the money from vaccines rolling in every day? Vaccines are the bread and butter of pediatrics. And if Vaccines and Antibiotics are rejected by parents...what is a busy doctor with bills to pay supposed to do???
I have not vaccinated any of our five children, and guess what? None of them are autistic.

A Surveillance Society Works Both Ways (comic)

(NaturalNews) "The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has gone ballistic over a fictional television program airing on ABC that shows a family successfully suing a vaccine manufacturer for their child's autism. Not satisfied to push dangerous vaccines onto children in the real world, the AAP now feels it must also control the thoughts and ideas of people living in fictional worlds by pressuring television networks to censor their programming. Only television shows that conform to the pro-chemical, pro-pharmaceutical, pro-vaccine point of view will be tolerated by the AAP, it seems.
A letter signed by AAP President Renee Jenkins warns ABC that it will "will bear responsibility for the needless suffering and potential deaths of children from parents' decisions not to immunize based on the content of the episode." This is tantamount to saying that ABC's television program will kill children! The AAP letter goes on to state the usual conventional medicine propaganda line that there is "no evidence" of any link between vaccines and autism.
Of course, that's only true if you limit your "evidence" to whatever dogmatic beliefs are currently being circulated in the minds of the promoters of western medicine. To these doctors, there's no such thing as a dangerous injection, drug or synthetic chemical! It's all safe for children: Mercury fillings, chemical fluoridation of water supplies, 37 different vaccine injections, antibacterial soap in children's toothpaste... need I go on? The American Academy of Pediatrics seemingly hasn't met a corporate-sponsored chemical it didn't like.
Why the AAP has no credibility
This is the same association, you have to remember, that pushes ADHD drugs like Ritalin onto children. Children who show "symptoms" of ADHD (a fictitious disease invented by the drug companies) should not be treated with nutrition, according to the AAP. They should be treated with amphetamines that used to be sold on the street as "speed." (ADHD drugs are amphetamines.) Is this a children's health organization that parents should really trust?
Consider this: The 2002 cover of the American Academy of Pediatrics breastfeeding guide featured the name and logo of Ross Products, the company that makes Similac, the top-selling brand of infant formula. I recently picked up a bottle of Similac "Go & Grow" formula. The front of the product claims, "Balanced nutrition for older babies. Improved formula!" I checked the back of the product and was shocked to see the ingredients, which listed the following as the first five ingredients:
42.6% corn syrup solids, 14.7% soy protein isolate, 11.5% high oleic safflower oil, 10.1% sugar (sucrose) and 8.4% soy oil

Let me go on the record right here, right now, and say that any doctor or medical organization that recommends a diet of corn syrup, soy protein, sugar and cheap oils to an infant should be arrested for malpractice. To think that the American Academy of Pediatrics actually promoted this company tells you everything you need to know about the AAP. The organization, in my opinion, is a disgrace to medicine. Its remarkable lack of nutritional knowledge demonstrates the organization's complete lack of credibility when it comes to talking about children's health. In my opinion, the AAP is nothing more than a Big Business front group that pushes junk infant formula products and dangerous medicines onto unsuspecting parents and children.
But intelligent parents know better. Reasonably-minded persons are increasingly questioning the sanity of injecting children with vaccines containing mercury preservatives, and they're tired of being lied to by drug companies, the FDA and medical "front groups" that are really nothing more than propaganda organizations for Big Pharma. Did you know that the entire medical community calls vaccines "mercury free" even when they still contain trace amounts of mercury? It's just one of many lies told to the public about vaccines.
The links between vaccines and autism is real
As anyone who has been paying attention already knows, autism rates have skyrocketed in direct correlation with the rise in vaccines. Take any nation in the world, and you'll find that autism rates are near-perfectly correlated with vaccine rates. The conventional medical community acknowledges that autism rates are extremely high in the United States among those children who are vaccinated, but they insist there's "no proof" of any causal link between the two.
Sure there isn't. They're not looking for any. It's like asking Big Tobacco to find proof that cigarette smoke causes lung cancer and heart disease. The idea that vaccines might be unsafe goes against their whole distorted belief system of pushing more and more injections onto infants and children -- all while enriching the profits of powerful drug companies. You, the consumer, are not supposed to pay attention to the inconvenient truths that children are being killed by vaccine shots. Two more young girls just died last week after receiving the Gardasil HPV Vaccine shots, and the body count will continue to rise as long as children are subjected to these radically unsafe substances.
The reason the AAP has so viciously attacked ABC for airing a fictional television show on this topic is because the AAP recognizes the danger in inviting parents to wake up and start asking commonsense questions about the safety of vaccines. If there's one thing conventional medicine absolutely does not want to see, it's a mass revolt against the synthetic chemicals that pay their salaries and keep them in power. Just like any dynasty that exercises control over its population, the AAP doesn't want the commoners questioning the King. In fact, the peasants cannot even be allowed to read, view or think thoughts that might question the declarations of the King.
But the truth, of course, is that the Emperor has no clothes. The pro-vaccine push is more about pseudoscientific marketing than scientific medicine. It's about corralling people into a belief system, not about actually saving their lives. Any intelligent review of the literature on the safety of vaccines and the history of modern civilization will reveal, for example, that the sharp drop in infant mortality over the last one hundred years was due almost entirely to public health measures (better hygiene, better sewer systems, cleaner water, etc.). The vaccine-pushing industry would love to take credit for these improvements, but they really just stem from basic improvements in the hygiene practices of the nation.
How vaccines harm children -- even when they work!
The vaccine-pushing doctors in this country would also like to take credit for "saving the lives of children" by protecting them from diseases like the measles, mumps and chicken pox. And yet, even here their logic is flawed: Vaccinating children against these non-fatal diseases actually weakens the immune system, denying it the ability to expand its function via an adaptive response to the chicken pox, for example. Vaccines actually impair future immune function, causing that child to be increasingly susceptible to future infectious diseases. A truly healthy child is one whose health is supported through wise nutritional therapies and is exposed to the live chicken pox virus. After a few days of uncomfortable symptoms, the immune system "learns" to overcome the infection, and by doing so, it expands its ability to more strongly protect the body from future infections.
Vaccines deny the child this experience, handing them a dead chicken pox virus combined with a stew of toxic chemicals. The result? An immune system that learns very little. It's like giving a child the answers to a math test before he takes the test, and then declaring him to be a brilliant math student when he gets an "A".
Pharmaceutical-trained physicians don't understand (or even acknowledge) the important role of the immune system in experiencing and overcoming infectious disease, and they think that all health must be accomplished through intervention. Essentially, modern doctors don't trust Mother Nature, and they have no faith in the ability of the body to keep itself healthy. They do trust, however, in Big Pharma's chemicals, and they believe that virtually no chemical is too dangerous to inject or implant into the bodies of children.
Notice, for example, that most pediatricians don't even speak out against the toxic mercury used in dental fillings? To them, mercury is perfectly safe to put into the mouths of children. So why on Earth would we expect these people to be alarmed over mercury being injected into the bodies of those same children?
Vaccine-pushing pediatricians are a threat to the health of children
Conventionally-trained pediatricians, it's sad to say, are the real threat to the health and safety of our children. While they're the ones blaming ABC for airing a television show, the truth is that they are the ones directly responsible for the deaths and suffering of countless children and families. The brand of scientifically-retarded medicine practiced by modern pediatricians today is solely based on financial motivations and power struggles (as in, who controls the health of the population). For every vaccine shot given to an innocent child, there's a profit. And the reason the industry is attacking ABC over this television program is because every shot that's avoided is a loss of that profit. This is about money, not public health. Want proof? Consider this:
What do you think would be happening today if an herb (instead of a vaccine) taken by millions of children was correlated with a huge rise in autism? The "scientific" community would be all over that herb, airing accusations of toxicity, calling for its ban, and the FDA would no doubt immediately ban the herb and criminalize anyone importing it or selling it. But what happens when it's a vaccine instead? The medical community defends it, insists there's no evidence of harm, and attempts to censor television shows while pushing its propaganda to the hilt.
Do you see the double standard at work in conventional medicine today? It stems from the unstated assumptions of our "drugs and surgery" system of medicine today: That all natural medicines are dangerous unless proven safe, and all drugs are safe unless proven dangerous.
Vaccines, then, are safe until someone proves them dangerous (at least according to those docs who keep pushing them). And nobody from the conventional world of medicine is really looking for hard for evidence of their danger. Furthermore, if someone from outside the realm of conventional medicine finds evidence of the harm of vaccines, their evidence will be rejected on the grounds that those people aren't part of the "recognized medical community." This is how these medical types circle the intellectual wagons and protect the status quo while rejecting any new evidence that goes against whatever "scientific" positions they've already announced are true.
The safety of vaccines cannot be questioned -- EVER! -- because the system of medicine practiced today depends on those vaccines as its primary myth-carrier. What myth is that? The myth that human health requires chemical intervention, and only specially trained doctors are smart enough to know what the body really needs. Mother Nature is an idiot, these doctors think, and they're determined to inject every child in the world with dangerous substances just to prove themselves right.
The arrogance is nothing short of astonishing.
The arrest and prosecution of vaccine pushers
Ultimately, when today's system of conventional medicine collapses after bankrupting this nation, I will be one of the first to publicly call for the mass arrest and prosecution of the criminal doctors who have committed these crimes against our children. The number of human beings they have harmed and killed with their medicine is nothing less than a chemical holocaust -- a crime against humanity that should be treated accordingly.
This prosecution action is not about revenge against those individuals, but rather about making sure society learns this important lesson about what happens when you turn over children's health to a for-profit system of medicine run by powerful corporations. It is important that the People rise up against this destructive class of medical aristocrats and strip them of their professional licenses, denying them the ability to harm other children. Because if we have to choose between protecting our children vs. protecting the egos of the doctors, I will choose our children every time.
Perhaps a future ABC show will feature a much larger court case involving class action lawsuits against pediatricians who have, through their arrogance and ignorance, poisoned an entire generation of children and caused irreversible neurological harm to tens of millions of innocents. I don't watch television, but I definitely wouldn't want to miss that show.
By the way, in support of this article, I have included (below) a list of selected quotes about vaccines and autism, including a quote from Robert F. Kennedy Jr. who investigated the U.S. government's collusion with Big Pharma in covering up the truth about vaccines:

Studies of autistic children have frequently shown very high levels of mercury, with no other source but vaccines found for the exposure. These levels are equal to those seen in adults during toxic industrial exposures. Several autism clinics have found dramatic improvements in the behavior and social interactions in children from whom the mercury was chelated. Results depended on how soon the mercury was removed following exposure, but permanent damage can be caused if the metal is not chelated soon enough.

The first reported case of autism occurred after thimerosal, a preservative for immunizations, was added to vaccines. Since then, the incidence of autism has increased at an alarming rate. Another challenge is convincing parents of the importance of vaccines. A 1998 article cited studies of 12 children who had pervasive developmental disorder, primarily autism. The parents and doctors of eight of the children said this began after they received the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine.

Eight girls who were injected with that nasty cocktail of chemicals NEVER have to worry about getting that form of CANCER.

Anyone checked recently to see how much money Merck has made off the pelvic goldmine around this current vaccine scam? I'm too lazy to go look it up....but I think we can safely guess it is in the hundreds of millions.

Specifically Judicial Watch wanted access to correspondence between Merck and the FDA regarding the vaccine, communications between the FDA and GlaxoSmithKline, which is working on a similar vaccine, called Cervarix, and reports by consumers, health professionals and others regarding problems with the HPV vaccine.
When the organization's investigation into the HPV vaccine issue arose, and the first reports starting coming in, Fitton described it as "a catalog of horrors."
One earlier report, No. 275438-1, describes the reaction as coronary artery thrombosis, sudden cardiac death. "Given Gardasil vaccine dose #1 3/12/07. Collapsed and died on 3/26/07… Echocardiogram revealed very enlarged right ventricle, small left ventricle as well as large blood clots within both the right atrium & right ventricle."
Another report noted that the woman was vaccinated and "died of a blood clot 8 hours after getting the Gardasil vaccine."
Officials with the Abstinence Clearinghouse noted in a position paper that groups including the Texas Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, and the American Academy of Environmental Medicine have come out publicly against mandatory vaccination.
"The reasoning of these medical associations is clear. They are not opposed to medical progress, and certainly support all efforts to combat life-threatening diseases. The problem, as these organizations see it, lies in the fact that the drug only went through three and a half years of testing, leaving the medical community somewhat in the dark as to what serious adverse effects might result in the long term," the group said.
"Along with the potential of serious adverse effects is the question of efficacy. There is evidence that after approximately four years, the vaccine's potency significantly declines. The long-term value of the vaccine has yet to be determined; if it wears off within six years, will girls and women need to repeat the battery of injections they originally received?" the organization wondered.
Michigan was the first state to introduce a plan to require the vaccine to be given to young girls, but the proposal failed. Ohio also considered a failed plan in 2006.
Then in 2007, after Merck's aggressive lobbying campaign and contributions to Women in Government, lawmakers in at least 39 states and the District of Columbia worked on sponsoring such plans."

In 2002, Fox National News reported Douglas Kennedy exposed the link between
psychiatric drugs and school shootings.
In September 2005, following confirmation that Red Lake Indian Reservation
school shooter, Jeff Weise, was under the influence of the antidepressant
Prozac, the National Foundation of Women Legislators, together with American
Indian tribal leaders, called for a Congressional investigation into the
correlation between psychiatric drug use and school massacres. Congress has yet to investigate the role of psychiatric drugs relating to school shootings despite international drug regulators warning these drugs
can cause mania, psychosis, hallucinations, suicide and homicidal ideation.
At least eight of the recent school shooters were under the influence of such drugs, and according to media reports, investigators working on the Virginia Tech school shootings, Cho Seung-Hui may also have been taking
drugs for "depression."

suicide, violence and mass murder
"From Columbine to Virginia Tech, every time another headline-making mass murderer is discovered to have taken antidepressants or other psychiatric drugs, rumors and speculation abound regarding the possible connection between the medications and the violence.
Now, reports the July 2007 edition of WND's elite monthly Whistleblower magazine, the time for speculation and guessing is over. The evidence is overwhelming and irrefutable, says Whistleblower's groundbreaking investigative report: Mood-altering psychiatric drugs – taken every day by tens of millions of Americans, including millions of children – actually can push some users over the edge into mania, suicide and horrific violence.
The issue is titled "MANIA: The shocking truth about psychiatric drugs and their link to suicide, violence and mass murder."
To begin with, many of the most notorious mass killers in recent memory have been on, or just coming off, prescription mood-altering drugs. Remember these headline names?
Andrea Yates, in one of the most heartbreaking crimes in modern history, drowned all five of her children – aged 7 years down to 6 months – in a bathtub. Insisting inner voices commanded her to kill her kids, she had become increasingly psychotic over the course of several years.
Yates had been taking the antidepressant Effexor. In November 2005, more than four years after Yates drowned her children, Effexor manufacturer Wyeth Pharmaceuticals quietly added "homicidal ideation" to the drug's list of "rare adverse events." But "rare" is defined by the FDA as occurring in less than one in 1,000 people. And since, according to an Associated Press report, about 19.2 million prescriptions for Effexor were filled in the U.S. alone in 2005, that means statistically almost 20,000 Americans could experience "homicidal ideation" – that is, murderous thoughts – as a result of taking just this one antidepressant drug.
Columbine mass-killer Eric Harris was taking the widely prescribed antidepressant Luvox when he and fellow student Dylan Klebold went on a hellish school shooting rampage in 1999, killing 12 students and a teacher and wounding 24 others before turning their guns on themselves.
Luvox manufacturer Solvay Pharmaceuticals concedes that 4 percent of children and youth taking Luvox developed "mania" – a serious mental derangement characterized by extreme excitement and delusion – during short-term controlled clinical trials.
Authorities investigating Cho Seung-Hui, who murdered 32 at Virginia Tech in April, reportedly found "prescription drugs" for the treatment of psychological problems among his possessions. Joseph Aust, Cho's roommate, told the Richmond Times-Dispatch Cho's routine each morning had included taking prescription drugs.
So what kind of meds had Cho been taking? Strangely, his medical records have yet to be released to the public – authorities claiming it's because an investigation is still ongoing, although critics suggest the purpose may be to protect the drug companies from liability claims.
Meanwhile, the list of killers who happened to be taking psychiatric medications is long and chilling. Remember these headline names?
Patrick Purdy's 1989 schoolyard shooting rampage in Stockton, Calif., was the catalyst for the legislative frenzy to ban "semiautomatic assault weapons" in California and the nation. The 25-year-old Purdy, who murdered five children and wounded 30, had been on Amitriptyline, an antidepressant, as well as the antipsychotic drug Thorazine.
Kip Kinkel, 15, murdered his parents in 1998 and the next day went to his school, Thurston High in Springfield, Ore., and opened fire on his classmates, killing two and wounding 22 others. He had been prescribed both Prozac and Ritalin.
In 1988, 31-year-old Laurie Dann went on a shooting rampage in a second-grade classroom in Winnetka, Ill., killing one child and wounding six. She had been taking the antidepressant Anafranil as well as Lithium, long used to treat mania.
All very interesting, you may be thinking, but what do the drug companies say in their defense?
One of the most widely prescribed antidepressants today is Paxil, manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline.
Paxil's known "adverse drug reactions" – according to the drug's own 2001 FDA-approved label – include "mania," "insomnia," "anxiety," "agitation," "confusion," "amnesia," "depression," "paranoid reaction," "psychosis," "hostility," "delirium," "hallucinations," "abnormal thinking," "depersonalization" and "lack of emotion," among others.
With a rap sheet like that, no wonder pharmaceutical companies are nervous about liability lawsuits over the "rare adverse effects" of their medications. In 1998, for example, GlaxoSmithKline was ordered to pay $6.4 million to Donald Schnell's surviving family members after the 60-year-old man, just two days after taking Paxil, murdered his wife, daughter and granddaughter in a fit of rage.
But reporting the truth about the relationship between psychiatric medications and mass murderers is just the beginning. "MANIA" also reveals clear and compelling evidence that psychiatric drugs hurt children physically – causing shrinkage of their brains, damage to their hearts and other significant effects.
Perhaps even more disconcerting, "MANIA" exposes the federal government's bizarre preoccupation with screening all American school kids to see if they're mentally ill – a process that often leads directly to a prescription for mood-altering drugs for the child who didn't answer the questions properly.
"The problem," said David Kupelian, managing editor of WND and Whistleblower, "is that many Americans don't exactly trust the federal government to determine what constitutes 'mental health.'" Incredibly, as this issue reveals, there is even a government effort to proclaim an infant-and-toddler mental health crisis!
With the numbers of people taking prescription psychiatric medications in the tens of millions and growing every day, this issue will touch virtually every reader in a profound way.

I'm wondering when the MSM is going to have the guts to take on this huge story.... With every other ad on television selling anti-depressants to the American Public, I guess it will be a while....don't want to make the advertisers mad, but if they were real journalists, they would take it on with a vengeance.

Generation Rescue commissioned SurveyUSA, an independent opinion research team, to interview parents in nine counties in California and Oregon.
Methodology closely mirrored that used by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to establish the national prevalence for neurological disorders such as "Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder," "Attention Deficit Disorder," "Asperger's Syndrome," "Pervasive Development Disorder," "Not Otherwise Specified," or "Autism."
Roll Call, a leading publication for congressional news and information, recently drew attention to this survey that showed vaccinated boys had a 2.5 times higher risk of neurological disorders than unvaccinated boys, and calling for a national study to explore these disturbing results.
Based on interviews of 11,817 households, involving 17,674 children aged 417, the data showed:
Vaccinated boys, compared with unvaccinated boys, were 155 percent more likely to have a neurological disorder (relative risk RR 2.55), 224 percent more likely to have ADHD (RR 3.24, and 61 percent more likely to have autism (RR 1.61).
All vaccinated boys and girls, compared with unvaccinated children, were 120 percent more likely to have asthma (RR 2.20).
Comments J.B. Handley of Generation Rescue, "For less than $200,000, we were able to complete a study that the CDC, with an $8 billion a year budget, has been unable or unwilling to do. We think the results of our survey lend credibility to the urgent need to do a larger scale study to compare vaccinated and unvaccinated children for neuro developmental outcomes."
At a press conference in summer 2005, Dan Olmsted of United Press International asked CDC Director Julie Geberding whether the government has ever looked at autism rates in the unvaccinated population.
She responded, "In this country, we have very high levels of vaccination . . . and I think this year we have record immunization levels among all of our children, so to (select an unvaccinated group) on a population basis that would be representative to look at incidence in that population compared to the other population would be something that could be done . . ."

Given the brewing scandal at the world bank around Wolfowitz's girlfriend, and the fact that they are meeting this week in America, perhaps it is time for them to acknowledge the roll they have played in the Vaccine scandals.

"One other tidbit about Wolfowitz that I have confirmed is less dramatic than securing his girlfriend a nearly $200,000 salary -- but still quite fascinating.
I now know from a second source -- as my first would only discuss this matter firmly off the record -- that Wolfowitz and Kevin Kellems had dinner at the Aquarelle Restaurant at the Watergate Hotel last year with a very prominent member of Washington's journalistic community.
The journalist in question had not met Wolfowitz previously and Kellems played a "relationship-brokering" role. What is interesting about this particular meeting -- as far as I understand the details of it -- is that the journalist in question, who I cannot name but can attest for his solid reputation as a serious writer, assumed that the topic of discussion at dinner would be Wolfowitz's global economic development agenda, his view of how to make the World Bank relevant to 21st century security and economic challenges, and so on.
Instead, Wolfowitz -- as recently as one year ago -- was still manically obsessed with the connection between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda. Wolfowitz reportedly brought with him to dinner an enormous binder of materials, articles, essays, reports, intelligence, etc. -- arguing that the connection between Hussein and bin Laden's operation was real and robust.
I can't report on the journalist's reaction to the dinner -- other than to say he was "surprised."
If Wolfowitz has been spending time hiring people like Robin Cleveland and Kevin Kellems -- as well as pushing the career of his girl friend "illegally" -- and obsessing about validating his bad decisions in the build-up to the Iraq War, then he has not been attentive to his real and fundamental responsibilites at the World Bank.
If all the rumors about his resignation tomorrow are untrue, Paul Wolfowitz should make them true as soon as possible."
My long time readers know that I am a Neo-Con and completely supported and continue to support the invasion of Iraq and the taking down of Sadaam Hussein. I also understand why Mr. Wolfowitz would want to validate and justify his actions and promotion of the War in Iraq.
What I would like to know is how much money Vaccine manufacturers had tied to this decision to yell and scream about Weapons of Mass Destruction the past six years. Don't get me wrong, I know those weapons are real and are a big threat. What I question is how much the Government has been influenced by Big Pharma to push it in the Media to soften up the populace into welcoming the idea that Vaccines are the answer to all of those threats?
I believe we all need to watch this very closely, and understand that our soldiers are being used as Gunea Pigs by being shot up with all the vaccines for WMD (Anthrax etc) The fact that our soldiers who have refused vaccines go to prison tells me how powerful the drug lobby has been in relation to these major decisions around weapons of mass destruction.
I am all for American Imperialism if it means freeing nations from despotic rule. But if American Imperialism boils down to hype to make more money for pharmaceutical companies, then I believe it is time for those particular frauds to be exposed!
Perhaps this World Band scandal will help open up the records and we can understand just exactly who has profited from the war in this sicko fashion.
