Sounds like an Effexor Murder, but could have been Zoloft

Amish Shooting

Rest in Peace Girls!

It sounds like an Effexor Case...

But could have been Zoloft:

From Ann Blake Tracy:

There were MANY clues in this case! This is the list I sent to the reporters
covering this case:

You have a normal, average guy who is even a good husband and father, who,
out of the blue, goes on a shooting rampage.

You have the horrifying and vivid nightmares that become so real that you
cannot tell the difference between them and reality.

You have a fellow who clearly began acting out the nightmares he was having
- technically known as a REM Sleep Behavior Disorder (RBD). We now know that
86% of RBD is antidepressant-induced or perhaps more politically correct
would be to say that we know that 86% of those being diagnosed with this are on
antidepressants.

You have the reason for most docs to give one of the drugs due to the way
Charles Roberts felt about losing his baby daughter.

You have a fellow who is armed to the hilt - the overkill is very common in
these cases. For some time I have wondered if the AK-47 or other rapid fire
weapons and mountains of ammo come with the prescriptions!

You have Charles Roberts stating that even his happier moments would turn
to anger - most patients say that is the only feeling they can feel after a
while on the drugs.

You have the rambling suicide notes that make little to no sense at all
indicating he had gone completely psychotic on the drug.

You have the claims of molesting people who are completely unaware that it
ever happened and have now denied it ever happened - signs of hallucinating,
which higher levels of serotonin produce.

You also have another sign of high serotonin - the thoughts of pedophilia -
yes that is scientifically documented. Why do you think we have so much
pedophilia now to insure Bill O'Reilly's job of chasing sex abusers on Fox News?
Oh my, what would Bill do without these drugs?

You also have reports coming from Sarah Glick, the little old Amish woman
who runs Glick's Heath Store, that he was preparing to visit one of her
daughters, who are natural practitioners (both lost family members in this tragedy)
because he was sick of how he was feeling and wanted to try the natural way.
Doesn't that indicate to you he had tried the medical way and it was not
working?

So, has anyone asked if he was taking Vitamin P (Prozac or Paxil), or
Vitamin Z (Zoloft) , etc.? I say this because so few people even seem to consider
these drugs. AMAZING! But true. Of course now we have Vitamin E (Effexor)
which has "homicidal ideation" listed as a side effect. Definition of homicidal
ideation would be continuous ruminating thoughts of killing. Nice side effect,
huh? Did wonders for Andrea Yates at the maximum dose!

Sorry if I sound a little cynical, I am just so tired of seeing SO MANY
needless deaths. All I had to do was open the Lancaster, PA today and there was
yet another case of a fellow on these drugs, Steven Musser, beating a man to
death and having no recall - just like patients on these drugs report. When
you do these things in your sleep, how are you suppose to remember?

How many more students and innocent civilians need to DIE before Congress pulls these drugs??

President Bush was in Colorado yesterday and announced that he was going to have some people investigate the school shootings to see if some solution is available.

I'm so sick of my children leaving my home afraid that some drug crazed lunatic is going to burst into the school to try to kill them.

Yesterday when I picked my children up from school my ten year old was telling me what he would do if someone broke into his classroom.

I am so sad that my son has to even think about these issues when he goes to school.

President Bush, Open up the floodgates by opening up your mind to the idea that the Drug Companies have been guilty of Murder for Profit and let the facts speak for themselves...

Jenny Hatch after two years of Forced Psychiatric Treatment - "Cured" of Post Partum Psychosis with the court ordered use of Haldol, Lithium, Prozac, and Stelazine for 14 months.

I praise God that I did not kill anyone while I was in my drug induced haze. I pray that the truth will come out about these drugs over the next couple of weeks, and that the American Public will have the courage to face the truth before one more schoolchild is murdered...

David, I would suggest that you research the clinical trials - not just those that were submitted, but all of them. These drugs have no more efficacy than placebo and the pharmaceudical trials showed that. And the trials also showed an increase of suicidal ideation and homicidal ideation.

We need to ask ourselves where is the science? You talk about Jenny's antecdotal evidence - but what kind of evidence do the "researchers" have that the medication works?? It is all antecdotal! Psychiatry is NOT a science - there are no scientific tests that can prove a "chemical imbalance" exists or is "cured" or evewn improved by these drugs. We've got to ban these medications before any more mass murderers strike. And what about the birth defects caused by these drugs? What are the long lasting effects of an infant fed these drugs through breast milk? Did you know that babies whose moms used an SSRI in the last trimester have all kinds of physical and emotional problems - some are immediate, some are manifested later. It's time we started realizing that these medications are killing thousands of people - suicide attempts are NOT being reduced - you can't compare completed suicides and get any kind of rational comparison - too many variables. We have a lot better trama care, 911 helps us get to the victims sooner, cell phones get help sooner, etc. We need to look at ATTEMPTS and they are rising!

Saved from drug abuse by drugs?

Uh, that is total propaganda. The pharma companies know they can't make the big bux if you grow your own so natural anti-depressants are demonized by calling users addicts.

This is not medicine. It is rent seeking.

You know pot is a better anti-depressant than most of the crap big pharma sells. The worst side effect is that it makes you sleepy.

Now why do you think the pharma companies are in the forefront of the "Drug Free America Campaign"? Restraint of trade or care and compassion? Just ask ttheir accountants.

Cy,

I have struggled with suicidal depression off and on during my life. I understand how it feels to be in emotional distress.

What I advocate on my Blog daily is a different path that what is shoved on the public by the pharma companies.

I believe in true healing. In nurturing the body and the mind to wellness through proper nutrition and quiet living.

Symptom relief is NOT cure. It is simply symptom relief. I know that turning off feelings by cutting out highs and lows can feel like "cure". But it never, ever addresses the underlying deficiencies that are in the body and brain.

Everyone who is mentally ill has a B-Vitamin deficiency.

No drug ever cured a vitamin deficiency.

I believe in using nutrients to restore and heal.

I believe I have cured my own mental distress using nutrients, the most important of which have been B-Complex and Flax Seeds.

I also understand that A weaning time will be crucial for those who currently take antidepressants if they are banned by Congress. It may take years for certain people to get off the drugs safely.

I also understand the fear that can come up in the hearts of antidepressant users who may have tried to come off drugs in the past and have been spooked by what they experienced. The thought of having to go through something like that again may cause those on the drugs to panic even thinking about weaning off the drugs.

Certain Drug rehab facilities won't even accept Anti-depressant users because they become so violent coming off the drugs.

This is not going to be easy for our society to do, but to me the alternative is our news agencies highlighting the "school shooting of the week", and the funerals, the families, and the faces of the innocent playing across our screens for the next fifty years....

It is time to stop the insanity.

You seem well intentioned but you seem to not be considering the thousands of people like me who are saved from a life of severe depression, alcoholism, drug abuse and despair by taking anti-depressants. It is easy for people who do not suffer from these kinds of problems to call for banning the drugs which treat them, but to those of us that suffer from clinical depression these drugs can give a new lease on life and the possibility of a normal existence. Anti-depressants saved my life and hate to think that they would not be available for other people who need help.

David,

You are correct in saying that having a psychosis does not make me an authority on drugs.

However, since the court forced me to use the drugs in 1989, I have conducted thousands of hours of research that have convinced me that my opinions are valid and scientifically valid.

Have you read the writings of doctors like Peter Breggin? http://www.breggin.com/

Or the Practitioners of Orthomolecular Nutritional Biochemisty?
http://orthomolecular.org/resources/pract.shtml

Have you read the research of people like Cadace Pert who was one of the scientists who helped produce Anti-Depressants - and called them "monsters" http://www.drugawareness.org/Archives/Miscellaneous/pert.html

or Ann Blake Tracy, who I quote in the post above, who has been a one woman force fighting for the truth about anti-depressasnts for decades?
http://deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,595085602,00.html

Why do you think the FDA put a black box warning on these drugs last year?

Please stop. The national suicide rate continues to drop because of antidepressants. Take them away and you're killing people. You focus on anecdotes that fit your template rather than the millions of people helped. As you include a bit of your own story, I have to conclude your own resentment interferes with your judgement on this. Having had post-partum psychosis does not make you an authority on antidepressants. Sorry. That's tough to hear, but reality sometimes is.

I am a psychiatric social worker and have treated depressed people for 30 years. My patients are people too, and deserve decent lives.
