How the violence in Iraq will end.
The Western media was relatively quiet about the quite amazing news from the recent trifecta in Iraq: very little violence on election day, Sunni participation, and approval of the constitution. Those who forecasted that either the Sunnis would boycott, or that the constitution would be — and should be — rejected, stayed mum."

Love that Purple finger!

I blogged the Iraq Constitution draft right after it showed up. It has since been revised somewhat, and I am still anxiously waiting to hear whether or not it has passed.
A couple of Americans were upset about the vote this past weekend...

But most of Iraq is thrilled with the outcome of the war...

I was interviewed by a few student journalists from CU in Boulder during the latest denver Anti-War Rally. Here is a quote from the print version of the story.
"On the outskirts of the protest were these people who demonstrated their support for the president. Among them is Jenny Hatch.
Holding up an index finger covered in black ink Hatch said, “I inked up my finger here because I’m in solidarity with the Iraqi people. It’s a symbol of their freedom. And I just feel passionate that they need to be supported. These people might not realize it, but what they are doing emboldens the terrorists who are in Iraq and I believe they personally have Iraqi blood and American soldiers blood on their hands."
Jan in Colorado had this to say about the Denver Anti-War rally:

A couple of pictures...in this first one you can see my right index finger is dyed purple in solidarity with the Iraqi people! (I used some purple shoe polish)

I spent quite of bit of time talking to this man...

He was filming us for his Denver Cable news show.

I like to stand on the UN flag while Freeping at Anti-War Rallys

The UN Flag does make a great doormat, but other uses are as a Hankie, or as some wag at Free Republic put it....toilet paper...
My prayer is that the Iraq Constitution will pass, they will hold elections in a couple months and take the first toddling steps towards Representative Government, the Rule of law, and Separation of powers. As I said on my Freeper poster....GO IRAQ GO!
Let Freedom Ring...

I was banned from the Mothering Magazine political chat room for celebrating this election triumph. Here is a link to all of the threads I started on the War and Politics Board, at least the ones that were not pulled! The actual thread I started titled One Week Celebration for the Iraq election was pulled after I wrote telling the liberals what I really thought of them.

UPDATE: October 25
The Constitution Draft passed...
"BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Iraq's landmark constitution was adopted fairly by a majority of voters during the country's Oct. 15 referendum, as Sunni Arab opponents failed to muster enough support to defeat it, election officials said Tuesday. A prominent Sunni politician called the vote "a farce."
Results released by the Independent Electoral Commission of Iraq after a 10-day-audit showed that Sunni Arabs, who had sharply opposed the draft document, failed to produce the two-thirds "no" vote they would have needed in at least three of Iraq's 18 provinces to defeat it.
Farid Ayar, an official with the Independent Electoral Commission of Iraq who announced the results, said the commission's audit of the vote had turned up no significant fraud.
Carina Perelli, the U.N. elections chief, also praised a "very good job" with the audit and said "Iraq should be proud of the commission."
